Her mother was awake. Leila glared at Kelvin as he continued buttoning up his shirt without any urgency. The same urgency he lacked when they were having breakfast. Her idea of breakfast in bed as gratitude for his continuous support went up in flames once Leila knew the caller.

They had to get to the hospital immediately. 

Why was he so calm about it? She slapped his hands off his shirt and finished up the buttons in seconds. 

“Can we go now?” 

Kelvin caged her between himself and the wall of the closet. His brows knit and she couldn’t resist the need to smoothen them. 

“The doctor told us to come later. Your mum is not stable enough to entertain visitors right now. I want us to be there but we have to wait.”
