Chapter 50

Luis nods to Hector as Luis takes the files from Veronica’s hands and gives them to Hector to look through so he can console her.

“Gavin?”

Luis looks at Hector in shock and stands back up quickly grabbing the file. Luis goes through all the files before he looks at Veronica.

“What?” She asks as tears fall from her eyes.

“He’s been getting money longer than anyone else. I hate to say it but he could be an agent.”

“I don’t know how. It’s not like he ever left. We were always together growing up and we both went right into the business except….fuck.”

“Except when, my love.”

“When he went to basic training. I thought it was weird that he went to basic training for the army but was never deployed. Even the classmates he went to basic with were deployed soon after they got back. How could I be so stupid? How did I miss this? How can he do this to me?”

“I don’t think we can trust where he is sending us. We need to get out of this forest.”

“Do you have anyone close that we can trust?” Veronic
