Informative meeting

I told Richard we would speak more in the morning, but right now Maddie needs me. As soon as we came back to our room, she completely broke down. She blamed herself for not freeing her teacher and confidant, but I kept telling her it’s not her fault. We all thought Azlela was dead. I mind-linked the information to my parents, and in the middle of me trying to calm my crying mate, someone bashed on the door, throwing it open and bursting into our room. The hurricane was of course my mother. Dad came behind her with sad eyes and an apologetic expression. Maddie quietly keeps sobbing into my shirt, as mom sits down on her other side on the bed and pulls her into a side hug. I bite down a growl.

“Uhm, mom, boundaries?!” I exclaim with an eye roll, but she completely ignores me. She keeps cooing at Maddie, telling her the same things as me. Which I would have told her was for no use, but whatever floats her boat I guess.
