Chapter 7

POV Griffin

I growled again as I watched her hurry away. I was sick of walking her run away from me. At least this time, I didn't need anyone to hold me back. That's progress, right?

"You're going to lose your voice if you keep growling like that" Theo joked and I rolled my eyes.

Axel, Stone and Cedric all turned to look at us and we stared back at them.

"What's your interest in Jasmine?" Cedric demanded and my eyes widened.

"Why? You like her?" I asked and he glared at me.

"Leave her alone" Cedric hissed at me.

"Shut up, Cedric. Don't start anything" Ember commanded as she and Nik walked up.

"Besides, he's not interested in Jasmine. It's Lilly he wants" she continued. I glared and Nik but she shook her head.

"Nikini didn't say anything. Anyone with eyes and a brain could see the way you're looking at her. Don't worry. We'll protect her. We want to keep you as our allies" Ember added and I relaxed.

I didn't really like Ember but I knew that she was loyal to her coven above all. She wouldn't start a war that could put her family in danger.

"Lilly, huh? She's hot" Axel began.

In a flash, I had him pinned up against the wall by his throat.

"Boss, let him go. We can't do this here." Theo soothed.

"Axel, you ass." Ember moaned.

I glared at Axel.

"Don't touch, talk or look at her. Hell, don't even think about her" I gritted out as Theo and Dolph pulled me off him.

"Well this is fun but we should probably get to class. We have a job to do, remember" Nik whispered to me and I froze, realizing that Lilly was unprotected right now.

I grabbed my stuff and hurried to the next class which had already begun. I took a deep breath as I walked in and couldn't smell her. Frantically, I looked around to see that both she and Jasmine weren't here. I promptly turned and walked out, with my crew behind me, leaving our teacher dumbfounded.

"I linked Sam and he said that their car is still here. They didn't leave the school." Nik informed me as I followed her scent through the hall to a closet. I grinned when I heard their voices through the door.

POV Lilly

After we got to the hallway, I pulled Jasmine down the hall and into a door that looked like a closet. I was happy to find out that it was the janitor's closet.

"Fuck! Jas, I'm so screwed!" I cried as she hugged me.

"What's going on?" She demanded.

"We don't have long. I'm sure they'll find us soon" I replied and turned to look at her.

"So the Savages are a werewolf pack, right?" I began and she nodded.

"Yeah. I can't believe that I didn't see it before." Jasmine cut in but I just shrugged.

"Which would mean that Griffin is the Alpha or at least the future Alpha, right?" I continued. Jasmine thought for a moment and then nodded.

"So... I think that I'm his mate. It's just like they told us, remember?" I said as I closed my eyes. She gasped and I peeked at her. She thought and deflated.

"That would explain this morning" she flatly said and I nodded sadly.

"What are you going to do?" she asked and I shrugged as I pushed my hair back.

"I have no idea. I could reject him but since he's the alpha, we would have to leave Hudsonville" I began and Jasmine froze. She looked at me with a pale face.

"No way! NO. FUCKING. WAY." She muttered. Then she looked at me.

"You would have to leave, just like your mother... if you came back, you would have to hide yourself" she said and I felt ill.

"And I would plant wolfsbane to try to keep him away and change my child's last name so she wouldn't be tracked back to me" I finished and Jasmine nodded.

"I can't believe that she didn't tell us" I muttered and Jasmine nodded.

"We can figure that out later when we get home, right now we need to figure out the Red Spiders" I replied and froze.

Jasmine started to say something but I grabbed her and nodded to the door.  We both stared at the door for a moment.

"You know we're here, don't you, princess?" Griffin called and I sighed.

I motioned for Jasmine to stay quiet. We waited for a few minutes.

"Answer me, Lilly. I'm already mad that you ran, you don't want to piss me off more." Griffin yelled.

I felt a chill go down my back at the anger in his voice but my pride refused to give in and I stayed silent.

"Fine. We'll do this the hard way, then. Stand back." he growled.

Suddenly the door fell in and Griffin appeared with Dolph, Nik and Theo behind him. Jasmine gave a little yell but I refused to react. I looked at him and rose an eyebrow. Griffin was panting and livid.

"Feel better?" I asked, calmly.

"Why are you hiding in here?" he demanded and I shrugged.

"I needed to talk with Jasmine. I don't know why that's any of your concern" I replied as I linked my arm with Jasmine again.

He along with his friends all stared at us as Jasmine and I glared back.

"Can you move? We're late for class" I asked.

They backed up and we walked past them but Griffin grabbed my arm before I could get past him.

"What are you? Both of you?" He asked me and my blood ran cold.

I glanced at Jasmine and she looked at me in alarm. We both masked our feelings quickly though. I settled my shoulders and glared at him.

"Again, that's none of your concern" I snapped and he smirked.

"Oh, baby. You know that it is" he replied and I shook my head. I stepped close to him.

I whispered in his ear even though I knew the others would hear, "You may not know what we are, but we know what you are. Back off, dog."

Suddenly, I was pulled away from Jasmine and pinned against the wall with his arms caging me in.

"Never disrespect me like that again." he snarled. I smirked and waved Jasmine off as she hurried over.

"If you know what we are, then you should know who I am and what you and I are to each other. Don't push me, you won't like what happens" he threatened and he leaned into my neck.

Suddenly, I panicked. I knew that werewolves marked their mates by biting them on the neck or shoulder. I also knew that once they did this, there was no way to leave each other. I pushed him away but barely moved him. I looked at Jasmine in fear and a look of realization passed over her face. Suddenly she mumbled something and flicked her hands and Griffin flew off me.

I walked over to Jasmine and she grabbed me. Nik and Theo grabbed Griffin to hold him back. I looked right in his eyes as they all looked at us in confusion.

"Try that again, and you'll never see me again. Leave us alone." I snarled.

Jasmine and I turned and walked towards class while the rest stared at us. When we got far enough away, Jasmine turned to me.

"I'm so sorry, Lilly. I know that we aren't supposed to do magic here but I couldn't just stand there and let him mark you." she whispered and I hugged her.

"I know, Jas. Thank you. I froze. I'm so glad that you were there." I whispered back.

We both took a deep breath and I smelt him.

"Fuck! What part of leave us alone do you not understand" I spat as I turned to see Griffin and his friends.

"Lilly, I'm sorry. I was just trying to scare you a bit. I wouldn't have done that" he began with a sad look on his face.

Part of me wanted to forgive him just so he wouldn't look so sad but I knew that those feelings weren't real and came from the mate bond.

"Why should I believe that?" I snarled and he glared.

"Because if I wanted to mark you against your will, I would have already done it" he snarled back.

I realized that he was right, he could have done it at any time. I sighed and shrugged.

"Doesn't matter. You shouldn't try to scare me" I snapped and turned.

"Stop running away from me" he snarled as he used his speed to get in front of us.

We stopped and looked at him. His friends quickly hurried to get behind him. I looked at each of them closely.

"Why are you staring at them?" Griffin growled.

I ignored him and continued for a moment.

Suddenly, I pointed at Nik.

"Beta" I said and she stiffened.

Then I pointed at Dolph.

"Gamma" I added and he snarled.

I smirked and shook my head as I turned to Jasmine.

"Packs are so predictable, don't you think? Always the same." I muttered and she chuckled.

"Well you certainly aren't predictable are you? What are you two? You can't be human." Griffin asked and I stared at him.

Inside both Jasmine and I were freaking out but we remained calm and cool on the outside. I screwed my face up in fake confusion and said nothing.

"Okay... you're even stranger than I thought." I scoffed.

Luckily the bell rang and we were surrounded by classmates.
