14. Florida, here we come

The weekend arrived sooner than we expectet.

Maybe that was because Austin and I had to focus on a new thing for both of us. Our relationship.

The last few days I watched every soccertraining after school on the sidelines, we kissed in the storageroom, texted through all our classes and he practically moved into my room.

So we didn't even recognised that our time was up.

,,Allright, that was the last box, finally. Say your goodbyes, son, and we can get going!", my dad Jack announced, closing the trunk.

Vanessa, my mom was already waiting in the car.

I looked at Austin who stood in front of me and couldn't decided between looking at me and the family mini van.

Shortly 1.458 miles, or 2.346,424 km, would take us apart. I would be in another state, 25 hours to drive away, it would be a different time zone. And the next time we would see each other in person would be in 6 months.

My boyfriend looked like he was about to cry.

,,Don't cry, it's making me cry. We will talk every day and we won't loose contact, ok? Come on, please send me off with a smile.", I pleased.

,,I forgot to give you something." Austin searched through his bag and put out a hoodie, that wasn't really my style.

,,Uhm, thanks."

,,When you miss me, you can call me and cuddle with my hoodie. I slept in that the last few days, so you can have my scent and feel like I'm hugging you."

Stop being sweet, you're making me not wanting to go.

,,Two idiots, one braincell, right?", I said as I pulled out one of my hoodies I prepared for him as well.

,,Your making me wanting to force you to stay."

,,Your making me wanting not to go."

,,Maybe I should drop out of school and move to Florida too."

,,You should not!" I choped his head playfully.

,,Come on, lovebirds, we need to get going or we can never drop you off at your grandmas!", Jack shouted.

,,Can't you see their having a moment? Come on, they won't see each other for a long time, remember what it was like when we were long distance.", Vanessa reasoned her husband.

For us, it was still pretty embarrassing, since we only were together for 5 days.

,,Bye now. Take care, and we text and videocall." I gave him one last hug and turned around to finally get into the car.

Austin grabbed me by the wrist, pulled me back into his arms again and gave me one last kiss, that made my heart flutter.

,,Bye, I love you honey." And there was the tear I knew I would get.

,,I love you too.", I whisperd in his ear.

But appearently Jack was at the end of his patience, because he started honking for me to get in.

As we drived down the road that would lead us out of the state, I looked back, still seeing Austin waving. In that moment I wished all my worries and insecurities would stay behind, 1.458 miles away. That I would know, that everything would be allright. But it wasn't that easy.

,,Austin is a nice boy.", Vanessa commented a few minutes into our drive.

,,Yeah, he is.", I replied.

Jack and Vanessa went really well about the fact that I'm gay and that I have a bf now.

Their first meeting with Austin this morning was actually hilarious.

Austin came over to say goodbye and help packing, when my parents were setting hell on fire with all the stuff I wanted to take with me. It didn't take them long to guess what kind of relationship we have, since Austin kissed me 2 seconds after his appearince.

They gave me a couple of strict parents looks, like ,,Our teenage son has a relationship.", ,,We hope you know about protection." and ,,Do you need THE Talk?".

When I gave them the typicall ,,Parents"-teenager look, they dropped the topic. But both of them still wanted to talk to him. So they set him down and asked him the embarrassing parent questions.

,,How old are you?"

,,What will you do for a living?"

,,What are your intentions with our son?"

I was honestly impressed that he kept smiling through all this embarrassing talk.

Maybe he did this once before or something.

But when I think back of his answer to the last question, I'm still blushing like a little girl.

,,What are your intentions with our son?"

,,If he will have me, I would be happy to get to marry him after graduation.", Austin said without a second thought.

This little idiot, he doesn't even know if this relationship will even really started and he already thinks about marriage.

Good thing that Jack and Vanessa are busy chatting in the frontseats, so they won't catch me looking dreamily out of the window.

Is it even healthy to put that much faith into someones words, you know that it isn't set in stone.

Like seriously, a million things can happen before we can think about marriage. From a simple breakup, over cheating, over death of one of us, over finding someone else, over hin changing his mind.

The possibility of us marrying each other was less likely than being striked by a thunderbolt.

Yet, I can't help but imagine being in a white suit, Austin next to me and the registrar saying ,,I now pronounce you husband and husband. You may now kiss.".

I know it problably wouldn't happen, but I couldn't help to look forward to it.

Austin:

- Hey honey,

I hope your all driving safe and you get to

your new home well. When you moved

everything in well and got some rest, text or

call me.

I'm curious, I want to know everything about

your new house and life. 😁

Love, Austin.

Such a little dork. He's so adorable.

Ashley:

- We're just an hour gone. It's good so far.

I will get back to you, when we're there.

Stay safe and look after Gab and the others

for me.
