Chapter Fourteen

Erin Lockheart's POV

"What are you doing here?"

"I simply came by to greet you, my lady, a happy birthday." Kai snickered as he looked at me. I glared at him and said, "You wanted me dead and now you're here to greet me?"

"I did want you dead but not anymore."

Cadmus scoffed, "Had a change of heart?"

"Maybe. But you knew that already, didn't you?" Kai swung his black sword at Cadmus managing to slice his cheek a little. Kai continued, "After all, you used her as bait to get me, didn't you? Aren't you a villain, Cadmus?"

"Bait?" I looked at Cadmus and asked, "What does he mean by that? What bait?"

"Knights, take Erin out of here and keep everyone inside the palace. I'll deal with this." Cadmus didn't even looked at me as he ordered that coldly. Deep down, I think I knew he was using me. But a part of me didn't want to believe it.
