Samantha’s POV

Never in my entire life did I think I would become a teacher.

Cervantes' plan for me was to go in as a sub teacher to a school. Whatever plan he had for me was already so fun, but so bad it's not my style.

“Don’t forget your name Auriel, You are a hybrid". "That would be used if anyone questioned you. I made sure your coast would be clear of any interrogation”.

Cervantes was perfect at whatever he did, just a few days of knowing him and I have been so overwhelmed.

“Which school am I going to? I am dressed up and I am  ready to go”, I asked in anticipation.

“Brighton high school, it’s the only prominent mixed school in this place. You don’t have to worry. I have settled it all. I would drop you off at the school.”

We arrived at school, it sent a weird feeling all over my body. I always hated school as a kid.

“Good morning, ma’am” I said to the principal, she wasn’t welcoming.

“Are you the sub I requested for” she asked rudely. “Yes ma'am, I am the sub” I said almost immediately.

She observed my looks from head to toe. I had blonde hair, but I dyed it on Cervantes'order to black. My eyes were originally sunset colours but I changed them, Cervantes got me new lenses, I changed a lot of things.

“Your dressing is corporate, but next time, do not put on strap sandals."

"That’s if there is a next time!” she sounded threatening. She probably meant I wouldn’t last a day.

Cervantes picked out the corporate dress, a black silk skirt that was a few lengths below my knee, accompanied with a glossy, white blouse.

He made me button to the top, he felt I looked more responsible without showing my cleavages. I looked more like a teacher that way according to him.

“Come with me. The Alpha needs to speak with you” she said briskly.

"Which of the Alpha’s could that be? Lowell, no he’s too young to have a child here, Drauglun ? What if it’s Herveaux?" Cervantes mentioned that he had kids in this school.

"What would he be doing in the school? Why did he want to speak with me?”

The principal was walking really fast; I almost knocked myself out, headlong, trying to keep up with her pace.

We arrived at the door,

“Don’t look at his face, bow your head when he speaks to you, accept whatever he tells you to do, and lastly, no questions! Understood?”

She gave me a whole list. Is he that strict or is she just scared of him?

The principal opened the door. No one was in there. “He left? We can still catch up with him. Follow me” she ordered. My dumb self, started to think that the Alpha we were to meet was invincible. Cervantes could do that too.

We ran as if we were being chased to the parking lot. I saw him, my heart was beating faster again. It felt abnormal, the yellow eyes, his physique, just everything about him made me stare wildly at him.

“I’m sorry I will have to run along, I can’t wait any longer. I will make it up to you, I promise”, Alpha Herveaux was referring to a little girl, ignoring the presence of the principal. He knelt to the girl, who was obviously angry and crying.

“I will take it from here” the principal offered to console Tala.

The little girl was crying her eyes out, yelling at her father who had zoomed off in a rush.

“I wonder where he rushed to. Let’s go inside” the principal said to the little girl. The little girl agressively loosened her hands off the principal’s grip.

“Let’s go inside Miss, leave her alone” she said to me. “No, ma’am i will like to try.”

I moved slowly towards the girl. She looked either seven or eight but her face was sharp.

“We won’t go to class today, we will hang around until you feel better” I said to the little girl. Like magic she cleaned up her tears and accepted my stretched hands.

She hugged me. “That’s strange, Tala doesn’t welcome anybody, aside from her family and the nanny.”

Tala held my hands, her tiny hands gripped mine softly but as firm as a child could.

“Let’s go home!” she peered. “We will, but we have to let the principal know” I responded.

“It seems your work has started. If Tala likes you, then every other kid would like you” the principal smirked at me.

“I’m Mrs. Pillar and you’re Auriel, right? No need to show you around. Tala would do that.” I was pleased with that though, I didn’t need her around me.

“Good job, you made it easier than imagined. She wasn’t our target but she would be so useful to our plans”, Cervantes voiced in my head.

I haven’t gotten used to it, it was creepy. I kept my peace because of the little girl I was holding.

“Can you read minds and hear people’s thoughts too?” I asked the little girl.

She laughed softly “No, daddy said I would get my wolf when I’m 18” the little girl, still holding my hands, said, looking at me joyfully.

We went to their class. I couldn’t wait for the day to end, it went so slow. Tala sat with me all through.

“Get acquainted with the little girl. Don’t waste the chance you created, make good use of it” Cervantes was beginning to annoy me.

“Won’t you go play with your friends” I asked Tala. “No, I’d rather speak with father”. She had a cellphone and I had none. I could just borrow hers to use.

I was ready to risk it all. Cervantes told me to avoid contact with any human, but I needed to hear from my father or even my husband.

“Would you lend me your phone for a while. I asked Tala” “Sure, Do you want to play a game?”

“Yes, in the restroom. I will be back soon. Wait for me..." I hurried off to the restroom.

I thought of who I could contact first. I only had my father’s contact by heart. I tried dialing it several times but it was turned off. I deleted and blocked the contact. I was trying to be very careful.

I remember social media. I logged in on my account. “Hello, please send me a reply as soon as you get this message, I am stuck in here. I need a way out”. I sent it to my father, husband and best friend.

Lorenzo is my husband. We had an arranged marriage, so it was full of fights and disaster, but now I need help from even my enemy. I needed to know who wanted me dead in the first place.

“Hello, is anyone in there?” I hurriedly turned off the phone and headed out. It was another female teacher. “Sorry, I heard no sounds since, so I thought no one was in there. Are you new?”

She smiled, asking, “Yes, I am the sub-teacher”. I left without listening to whatever she had to say.

Teaching the kids wasn’t hard, they were calm and jovial. They closed really early. It was just afternoon.

Alpha Herveux was there to pick up Tala. I saw him as he came down from the door, “Run along, you’ve been waiting for him” I said to Tala, she had forgotten that she direly wanted to go home.

It reminded me of when I was a child; All my sorrows never lasted for a long time.

“Let’s go, I'd introduce you to my father” Tala said.

I was reluctant. What if he disapproved of me? Our last time together might have given him a bad image of who I was.  I didn’t want to, but my legs kept moving, following Tala as she dragged me to her father.

Alpha herveaux was wearing a Brown three-cutter shorts, with a round fitted top, showing his muscular body.

“Tala, come here” he said to his daughter. She jumped on him. “I want to introduce you to someone”.

Alpha Herveaux looked around to see who she was referring to. I was standing right in front of them all through. “Who is that person?” he asked her, so full of pride.

Did he just pretend not to see me?

“That’s her dad! Our new teacher Auriel”, she pointed to me. “Oh it’s you, What do you want daddy to do to her?” he asked his daughter.

“My new nanny father !”. his daughter was rude too, How dare she demand him to make me a nanny, I'm her teacher?.

“Lets go home, we’ll discuss better” she hoped inside the car.

“Here is my business card. Where do you live? I would tell my driver to come pick you up. My daughter wants you!”.

It's the audacity for me, what century do they live in? the prehistoric?.

Just because his daughter requested, now he going to make me a nanny?

“Have we met before?” he asked me. My heart tripped.

All this while he talked without even looking at who he was talking to.
