Chapter 20

From Alassandra's POV

I was utterly scattered mentally. I found myself pondering things that I never imagined would cross my mind. What was supposed to be a peaceful trip into town quickly transformed into an enormous disaster when the waitress suddenly burst into flames. I couldn't comprehend how such a bizarre incident could occur. The echoes of her screams continued to replay in my thoughts, and the expression of sheer shock and terror in her eyes would forever haunt me.

Then there was the bookstore. Ikaris' words left me with several questions. I found it incredibly difficult to believe that it had been closed for twelve years. I had been to the store and spoken to the owner; how was this even possible? As much as I had wanted to go back and take another look to bring peace of mind to myself after what happened in the restaurant, I knew there was absolutely no way I could return, at least not for a while. As I came to a stop at the stop light, I shook my head to clear my thoughts
