THE HEIR-CHAPTER FORTY THREE

With my mind still preoccupied by thoughts of Gabriel and reminiscing about the way he once made me feel. I momentarily longed to be the one in the kitchen with him that evening; a desire I knew was inappropriate, yet he managed to reignite my longing for him once again like the past.

At first, I thought I wanted him to stay away from me. However, I was unexpectedly relieved after receiving his text, which was irresponsible of me.

Upon arrival at the firm, the driver snapped me out of my thoughts. After paying him, I gathered my belongings and saw Bella waiting at the entrance, clearly concerned. She took my things as the driver drove off.

"My car's acting up," I informed her.

"Sorry about that, Ma," she replied as we entered the building together.

"Fill me in on my schedule," I requested, acknowledging the greetings of the other staff with a wave of my hand.

"Virtual meetings with two clients, the construction manager, and the investment company," she briefed me.
