ADELINE’S POV

I was sitting on my bed, scrolling through my phone when it happened. My fingers slipped, and my phone fell with a thud onto the floor. I squealed, my heart racing.

I picked it up quickly, fearing the worst, but it was still intact. As I breathed a sigh of relief, I saw a new message notification.

It was from Xander. My pulse quickened again as I opened the message. He texted to remind me of the dinner and if I still remembered.

I stared at the screen, reading and re-reading the words. Was this real? Was Xander really asking me out? I felt a rush of excitement mixed with nerves. I screamed internally, "I freaking said yes!"
