ADELINE’S POV

I wake up early in Xander's guest room, feeling disoriented. The events of last night replayed in my mind like a nightmare.

Xander had been so kind, offering me a room in his house. But now, I need to face reality. I get out of bed and peek out the window.

The house was empty and I hoped reporters didn’t know I was hiding in here. There's no way I can go back home right now since they we’re still in my house.

I grab my phone and dial Clarissa's number. She picks up immediately, her voice frantic. "Adeline, where are you?" she asked.

"I'm at Xander's place. I can't go home with all those reporters outside," I explained quickly.

She sighs with relief. "Thank goodness you're safe. I've been trying to reach you all night. Are you okay?"

"I'm okay, just overwhelmed," I admit, my voice trembling slightly.

"I'll bring you some clothes and anything else you need. Give me half an hour," Clarissa said.
