Just as the sun set, there was a knock at my apartment door. When I opened it, Lucas stood there immaculately dressed in an expensively tailored suit. He had a commanding presence, and I felt like I had butterflies in my stomach.

“Emily,” he whispered, grinning and genuinely pleased, as I put an effort into trying to look good for our meeting.

“Let’s get down to business,” I said, still maintaining my poise. I invited him to come and sit down on one side while I sat opposite him. Lucas, who was frowning, moved closer to him as if in deep thought.

“Okay, Emily, let us be formal in this conversation since we are just talking about the project.”

I nodded and started mentioning my conditions.
