Chapter 8: Beginning of something good

I left Lucas in the kitchen with a crooked smile and walked to Lily’s room to assist her in getting dressed up. There arose within it a warmth, that couldn’t be denied, and I felt that possibly there was something else in Lucas apart from what met the eyes. However, I had to proceed slowly, as I had learned from my experience not to be too quick in making decisions.

“Alright, Sweetie,” I informed Lily as I entered her room. “Uncle Lucas is taking us out for dinner.” What will you be wearing?

It caused Lily’s face to cheer up. “I would like to wear my nice dress, Mommy, the one that has flowers on it.”

“That’s perfect!” I assisted her in choosing that particular dress. While getting her dressed, I could not fail to discern the happiness that shone in her eyes. She liked Lucas very much indeed, which was really touching.
