CHAPTER 263

"To hear you tell it... does Selena have a husband? Why would she leave her child here while working?"

The woman smiled, she seemed to rub her palms together as she continued, "From the beginning, Selena just came by herself. She raised and cared for Glen well. We never asked about Glen's father, but from the way she acted and the way she spoke, we could tell right away that... Selena didn't have a husband."

The harsh reality had to be heard, and Nicholas became concerned for Selena.

"By the way...what is the need for you to look for Selena?"

Nicholas took out his police ID card, and it made the woman in front of him startled.

"Oh my! Did something bad happen to Glen and Mrs. Selena?"

"No, no, everything is fine. But we needed to check because we couldn't find the two of them." The woman nodded her head. "May I know your name and what you do here?"

"My name is Lim Sara, I have a Korean surname from my father. I work here as a nanny for the children. And one of them is as Glen's nanny."

Sara tried to give an honest answer and Nicholas nodded his head. Taking out a note from under his coat, Nicholas asked again, "When was the last time Glen came here, or when was the last time he left this place?"

"It's been more than a week. That day Mrs. Selena came and picked Glen up. She didn't say anything, so we thought everything was fine."

Nicholas furrowed his brow, he tapped the journal with the pen in hand. "Is there anything else you noticed besides the stress?"

"Oh! I remember now. A few days before Glen didn't come to this place, Mrs. Selena had asked if we were going to raise the price in the next month."

"Was she worried about the fee increase?"

"I think so, Detective." Sara bit her lower lip, then continued her explanation. "We said Mrs. Selena could get 20% off if she took the long-term price. But she seems to be confused."

Nicholas nodded his head, then tucked the journal into his coat again. He looked at the clock on his left hand, then gave Sara a small smile. "Thank you so much for your time. I really appreciate it."

Sara held Nicholas' arm, her face turning worried. "Is... Glen going to be okay?"

Nicholas sighed, he looked at Sara straight on and finally nodded his head. "Sure. We'll make sure that Glen is okay."

"Thank you, Detective."

Afterward, Nicholas exited the daycare center. It was almost half an hour, and he had to meet up with Noel soon. His brown eyes scanned the surroundings, he made his way to where he came from. And on the way, he finally met up with Noel. Noel took a small jog towards Nicholas. They were standing in front of Selena's boutique.

"I have information," Nicholas began.

"I've got information too," Noel replied.

"Well, you tell me your information first."

Noel nodded. He turned around, pointing at one of the vendors quite a distance away from where they were. "That vegetable vendor over there. He saw Selena leave during the night!" Noel turned around, looking at Nicholas. "His testimony is exactly the same as what the woman we spoke to earlier said. But that man saw that on the previous day, Selena left with a man. From the look on his face, Selena looked scared. They got into a car together and Selena came back with a big bag in her hand."

"Big bag?"

"It was a big bag of money, Nick."

Nicholas' eyebrows furrowed. "What? How did the greengrocer know?"

"A pile of money fell out of the bag, and when Selena tried to pick it up... the greengrocer looked at the whole bag, there was a pile of money inside."

Nicholas nodded his head. "Selena seems to be having economic problems. This statement can be confirmed by the daycare at the end of this street, it's quite a distance from the boutique, I was hesitant to go inside at first. But... Selena left her son there."

Noel looked enthusiastic, he raised both eyebrows in surprise. "Selena has a son?"

"Before she disappeared, Selena seemed to be thinking about many problems. One of them was the issue of rising prices at the daycare center. This must have something to do with money, Selena needs a lot of money. And she came back with a big bag of money. everything must be connected."

The tall man took out his cell phone and showed it to Nicholas. "The greengrocer knows Selena's home address. Selena had asked him to bring her some vegetables, so he drove her by car. This is the address."

Nicholas nodded his head determinedly. "Then we must move quickly. If she had a lot of money, she could have fled the city."

"Okay, Nick."

They rushed to the car. With the information they had gotten from the greengrocer and the nanny at the daycare center, Nicholas and Noel hoped that Selena could lead them to Ace. At the very least, Selena could provide another clue as to Ace's whereabouts.

The car stopped after reaching the location given by the greengrocer. Nicholas and Noel exchanged glances. "There are several houses there. Which house?"

Noel looked, then considered. "The greengrocer said that the house was painted with brown paint. That's over there, the house with the brown paint and the little lights on the door!"

"Okay. Let's get out of the car."

The two of them got out of the car after parking the vehicle across the street. The information from the greengrocer was really useful, this was a real stroke of luck. Nicholas heard the sound of children crying before he knocked on the door. He muttered to Noel. "A small child is crying inside."

"Should we break down this door?"

But Nicholas decided against it. "There is a child. He's crying, if the boy sees us breaking in, he'll get scared." Sighing, Nicholas knocked on the door in front of him.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

The sound of crying suddenly disappeared, and this made Nicholas and Noel exchange anxious glances.

Nicholas made another decision. He broke down the door and looked at the scene inside.
