69, PRE-DINNER

I’ve been alone all day, and somehow it seemed like I was crowded. It was all thanks to everything that I had gotten from Lily. She had not meant any harm when she told me about Raul’s exes, but it didn’t mean I would be so thrilled at the prospect. I just hated that someone else had been in his life, and there was someone he held at a high regard. That didn’t seem fair.

"Luna, you’re not ready yet," Lily whined as she stepped out of the bathroom with a clean robe in her hand.

Amelia and Lucinda chose that moment to show up with a tray of fruits. They looked in their new brown uniform. They bowed at me, and I smiled in response.

"Luna," Lily whined.

"I don’t have the urge to go anywhere today, Lily. I just want to stay in my room, and pretend that everything is fine. Can’t I indulge with that much?" I asked absently as I signalled for the maids to come closer with the fruit.
