I stared in front of me in shock. 'Lucien, I’m so scared,' I managed.

The image in front of me didn’t seem to vanish the more I looked at it. Slowly, I stepped down from Lucian’s wolf and heard him growl as he looked on.

'Stay here,' he ordered through the mind-link.

I nodded slightly and watched as he went over to the girl who was looking half-dead. I hope she wasn’t dead. If anything happened to her, then I don’t think that I might be able to breathe peacefully in this pack again. I looked around the forest and noted that no one was lunging around.

'Kezav, do you know who must have done such a despicable thing?' I asked my wolf.

She didn’t steer. She must be asleep or something. I heard somewhere that wolves also slept, and that shouldn’t be good. Looking around once more, I allowed my hand to go around my body as I tried to beat down the fright that I felt. It was just too bad when things like this happened at night.
