“He raped a maid that used to work here,” Alice said after she sat on her mattress. The uneasiness was prominent in her voice.

“What? How???” I widened my eyes, shock printed on my face. The fact that he looked like an innocent guy with those brown eyes and a handsome face.

“Look, I'm telling you this because I trust you and everything I'm about to say here shouldn't leave this door, Emma, promise me that first.” She stared straight into my eyes with a serious face. Alice joked all the time but this is the first time seeing her all solemn.

“Yes yes! Absolutely.” I exclaimed, nodding profusely, wanting to hear the full gist from Alice.

“Her name was Jane. She was mild and always so quiet, but what everybody liked about her was the fact that she was very respectful and obedient. She’d follow any orders you'll give her and soon some maids started using her for their own benefits. She was plain, innocent, the youngest…” She explained, fiddling with her fingers.
