Sarah

Something startled me from my sleep. I heard the sound of movement around me as I tried to allow my sleepy eyes to adjust to the dark room.

I turned on the bedside lamp on the table.

"Is anyone here?" I called out groggily.

I looked closely around me from the comfort of my bed. My room was spacious and the bed was set in the center of it. The canopy covering the bed was draped with shrill white lace curtains which were tied back with a thong to the bedpost. Only a couch sat by the window, overlooking the streets.

I heard the noise again. It was coming from the farther corner of my room.

I squinted my eyes in the direction of the noise.

A pair of huge yellow eyes stared at me from the dark corner of my closet. My heart stopped beating for a second. Fear crippled me to my bed and dulled my senses.

I felt dizzy as memories of the last time I had seen yellow eyes in a corner, came rushing back. It was back to finish the job; that was all my head could think.
