"Oh finally, you're up. Lucas said not to disturb you." Ma walked past, hands filled with clothes. "He said you had a fright last night. Feeling okay now?"

I nodded.

Ma was the head of staff at Lucas’ mansion. Her name was Marika but she preferred to be called Ma. She was very doting when it came to Lucas but held a slight resentment towards me. I believe she felt that way towards anyone Lucas shows a tiny bit of attention.

It must have taken a miracle to drag her out of the house and away from her duties to Lucas.

The house was bustling with activities as noise filtered into my room. It was a miracle how I slept through it. Last night must have taken a toll on me.

“What's going on downstairs?” I asked, getting up from the bed and heading to the bathroom. “Is Lucas still around?”

"The men are at work,” she answered flatly, ignoring my question about Lucas. "I'll have Uriel run you a bath. Would you like to clean your room by yourself? Or I could have the girls do it
