Lorena's POV

He moved in closer to me and suddenly a shrill scream pierced the air. He stopped and I was immediately jerked from my trance as he looked around suspiciously.

"What was that?"

My blood ran cold immediately. It was Hazel; she was in trouble. I pushed the Beta away and bolted for the door. I had to help her. But before I could reach for the knob, I was yanked to a stop and pulled back.

Ryder pinned me to the wall again and growled angrily and deeply.

"And where do you think you're going? I never said we were done here."

I was breathing hard and trying my best to keep my composure despite his intoxicating scent.

"My friend is in trouble and so is your Alpha. I'm going to help. You have made your decision to reject me and I won't grovel at your feet to make you change your mind. I've been hurt more than enough times. If you have any loyalty in you, you will let me go and help my Alpha and friend."
