Later in the afternoon, I went downstairs to have something to eat, and the maid told me that Mrs. Ifeoma said that I should cook my lunch by myself.

"Is there no cooked food in the house?" I asked the maid, who looked afraid and hesitant to speak.

"I cannot cook, and you don't expect me to starve. Move away from the kitchen door," I shoved the maid aside and entered the kitchen. Walking up to the pot, I opened it and served my meal myself. I had already told Darlington that I wanted to leave the house, but since he refused, then I could as well take care of myself appropriately.

"What are you doing with my pot? Didn't Nora inform you that you are not allowed to eat my food? You will start cooking your food as from tomorrow onwards," Mrs. Ifeoma said, and I replied, "Okay, ma."

I stepped out of the kitchen and went to sit comfortably at the dining table to have my lunch. I didn't know how to cook, and that was because we have maids at home, and my mother always pampere
