Allison’s POV

I waited, my heart scudding with a mix of trepidation and unease as I waited for my mother's oncologist to answer the phone.

Just then, the line clicked, and the anxiety within me dissipated to a reasonable extent.

“Good day, miss Allison,” She greeted. “How are you doing?”

“I'm doing well, doctor, and you?” I replied.

“I'm also well, miss, thanks for asking.” She responded, to which I nodded.

“That's good to hear, so how's my mum doing? Is she in a better condition now? Or does she need more treatment?” My voice came out in a croaky whisper.

“She's doing well, miss. But she's currently asleep, would you like me to call you when she wakes up?” She asked.

“Yes, please. Thank you so much, doctor. You've been of great help to my mother and I for the past few months. I promise to never take your assistance for granted.” I said.

“You're welcome, dear. I've got to go now. Duty calls.”

“Alright, doctor. Thanks again.” I responded, before ending the call.
