Chapter Forty-One

Ben

Her face was red and her eyes swollen. Seeing me, she quickly tried to wipe off the tears and adjusted her hair.

Trying to smile at her, I said, “Hi, are you okay? I just wanted to talk to you.”

Madeleine gave me a hesitant smile and opened the door for me. “Yeah, please come.”

She turned around to walk inside and plopped herself on the bed. Her hands were intertwined and she was twiddling her fingers.

I looked at her again and tried to ask, “So, something happened today? Or maybe just an hour ago?”

Hearing my voice, she nearly jumped as if trying to understand what I was doing in her room. She was way too distracted and tense.

I walked near her and sat on the bed beside her, “it's okay. Please relax; Hayden won’t be harsh on you.”

I had aimed to calm her down but hearing Hayden’s name only made her sob harder.

Its not going anywhere, the chapters are too short. No chemistry between the characters… had a good start but got me bored eventually.
