Chapter Thirty-four
Hayden
I had snapped at her and she had left the office crying. Goddess, now I felt even more annoyed. I just took the file I had been studying and threw it to the floor in frustration.
The box she had brought in was still lying in front of me.
Luke spoke in my head, “You should have just asked her to show up early tomorrow…”
I rolled my eyes at him and he knew that it was his turn to shut up.
I let the box sit in front of me and resumed work. Half of my mind was inclined to run after her and apologize to her but I needed her to know that I had set certain rules and they applied to everyone.
Just because I had kissed her didn’t mean that she was above the rules.
It was a miracle that Steve hadn’t pointed out that she wasn’t around in the training camp. But, I felt that he was simply too busy ogling at the other girls to notice her absence.

Madeleine Panting, I neared him and collapsed on the ground and he bent down on his knees. Extending a bottle, he said to me, “Drink this, and don’t be late tomorrow.” Saying so, he placed the bottle on the ground and got up. I was just lying there and turned around to take deep breaths. Hayden My eyes then automatically flicked to Madeleine. She wasn’t strikingly beautiful or some maiden that I had never ever set my eyes on. But, she was gorgeous in her own way. That innocent face and those beady eyes with which she looked at me tugged at my heart like not even the sexiest girl managed to do. Blinking my eyes, I decided to do something. I needed a distraction from her. And that distraction was almost crying with a sprained ankle. Thus, I called Madeleine and decided to use her as a dummy. Madeleine was shocked to hear me call her name but came forward nonetheless. “Let your body loose and I will show the attendees how to throw an opponent down to the ground with a surprise move” She barely had the time to nod her head when I slinked my arms around her waist. He just left me in that office with the papers sprawled on the table and the door ajar. He had left me to freely check through whatever I wanted. Despite finding me with evidence and catching me red-handed, he had simply left me to do what I pleased. If his words had felt like a tight slap, his action had punched me in the gut. Ben Her face was red and her eyes swollen. Seeing me, she quickly tried to wipe off the tears and adjusted her hair. Trying to smile at her, I said, “Hi, are you okay? Raine As if on cue, he spoke in a resigned voice, “Madeleine was caught red-handed in my office, trying to spy on me and give away confidential information to her alpha, Garron. She says he is forcing her to do that but she has no proof. And, with Charlie around I couldn’t do anything.” “Oh,” I added in a thoughtful voice. Now, I knew why he was feeling so low. Upon hearing Garron’s name I stiffened for a moment but I decided to not show it to my brother. “Well, then did you ask her to appear in front of the jury?” Hayden simply nodded his head, “Yes, and as per the rules I gave her twenty-four hours but I really don’t know how she would prove it.” I sat there with my chin placed on my hand thoughtfully. There must be a way to sort this mess. Several thoughts began to churn in my head as I tried to find the best way out of it. And, I decided something without letting my brother know.
