Chapter Forty Four - Heated Confessions

She moved to the couch and slumped on it.

“Has anyone come sniffing around here? I scent a familiar cologne.” Marcus inquired as soon as he walked in.

The air suddenly left the room.

Cassie's heart rate was visibly rising again. She recalled the verbal sally that occurred between them, then the kiss and watching him leave heartbroken. She rolled her eyes, trying to act normal.

“No one.” She lied, keeping a straight face. “So where did you go?” She switched the topic immediately.

“I took a walk, planning on a date for us tonight, you know, to clear the air since you wanted a lil space.”

“That's very thoughtful of you.” She exclaimed.

“Yeah, let me prepare something real quick to ease your tension. Then we get ready for tonight. Okay?”
