MIA’S POV

Stunned, Mom dropped the tray after hearing me say the word, Dad. The glasses clattered on the floor as she wobbled back.

“Mom, are you okay?”

“Hang up that phone. Now!” Mom pulled up my phone and ended the call.

“Mom, what are you doing?” she deleted Dad’s number on the call log and tossed the phone to the couch.

“Why did you delete Dad’s number?!”

“You, get out of my house! I told you not to bring that man back into our lives. Get out!” Mom shouted repulsively, opening the door wide. Jeffrey Henderson was left with no choice but to leave. Mom quickly slammed the door and locked it.

“That man? Are you referring to my Dad? Mom, he is not just any other man; he’s my father!”

“Your father, who abandoned us for so many years!”

I walked out, going to my room. I wanted to hear from my Dad again. I wanted him to be part of my life again. Was that hard to ask?
