Reconnecting

MIA’S POV

“Why was Nixon here last night? What does he want?” Davon confronted me after coming out of the notebook.

“He came to ask about you. That’s it. He immediately left after he got what he wanted.”

“I don’t like him coming into your room at night. I don’t want him near you.”

The sound of Davon’s voice was like a dagger piercing my heart. It offended me. Did he think I was flirting with Nixon? He talked like a King ordering his slave.

“We didn’t do anything wrong,” I answered back, but Davon ignored me. Going to the bathroom to do his thing every morning.

We spent the day not talking to each other, and Theo was quick to notice that visiting the library. Davon returned the books to the shelves pouting.

“What’s up with you two?”

“Nothing, Theo,” I didn’t look at him and sorted out the library card.

“Hmm, you are not a good liar, Mia. You are avoiding each other. Was it about the confrontation against Nixon?”
