Emily's POV

I felt my blood boil.

“What are you doing here, Eric? Where is Max?” I snapped.

The chair I was seated on scraped the ground as I stood up abruptly.

He chuckled lowly, staring at me.

“You seem anxious to see him,” he commented, his eyes digesting my appearance. “Unfortunately, he can’t be here.”

I scowled at him. “What are you talking about? He was supposed to meet me here.”

“He can’t date my wife, so he isn’t here. I am, in his place.”

I grew more annoyed at his games and grabbed my things angrily.

Did Max really let Eric come in his place? Too bad I wasted my time waiting for him. I cursed under my breath as I turned to leave, but what he said next stopped me in my tracks.

“If you actually care about Max and want to get him out of jail, I’d advise you to sit back down and let us make an agreement.”
