Xander's POVGhosting people isn't my usual way of acting, but I can't seem to help it. I needed my space, don't know what exactly for. All I did was shift and run through the woods like a raging maniac, drink myself to a stupor, eat whatever junks come my way and sleep like a log of wood. It was an adventurous moment. I stared around the house compound, it felt like it had lost its colors. Memories of my dad and I crossed my mind and the tears stung my eyes again. Even if he did have his flaws and had done some things in the past, he was the best father anyone could ever wish for. Dad made time for me, no matter how busy his schedule might be. He had thought he wasn't doing enough when I became secluded, causing him to marry a woman who would be the beginning of our ruin. Hate filled my chest for the horrible woman who wouldn't let go of an over three decades of feud. The person she is said to be fighting for wasn't exactly well-behaved, it still doesn't justify my father's action.
Kira's POVWhatever it was that Leila did with the information I sent her, it did make her pleased. She had come around today to gift me a silver necklace that looked charming. I was truly surprised at the gesture. She shouldn't bother buying me gifts when she has plans to end my life. I wish I could tell that to her face. My heart raced when she volunteered to wear it on my neck. I could sense Amber mind linking me to slap her hands from my neck. I almost laughed out loudly, she undeniably has a way of baring her mind. Leila wouldn't be crazy enough to cause me any harm right here in my own guarded space. She grinned at me, sitting opposite me. We were sitted by the relaxing garden not far from the pack house gate. “It looks so beautiful on you. I knew it would fit you better.” I smiled tightly, “you have always had eyes for good things.” My eyes went to my phone, I had expected that I would get at least a call or text from Xander. But I didn't, he obviously still isn't pleased
Kira's POVXander's eyes searched mine the moment I got in. The way he cowered back at my hard glare, I am sure he thought it was because of the gravity of his offense. I hissed loudly, locking the door behind her. “What are you doing here?” I whisper yelled, my eyes lingering on the window. The rate at which my heart paced, one would think I was running away from a burglary scene.Xander raised a cautious brow, “I came to apologize for how I reacted the other day.” “This is like the wrongest of time to come. Couldn't you have called ?” “I didn't want you to refuse me, and when I called Amber she didn't say there was a reason for me not to be here.”Placing a hand on my forehead, I demonstrated with my other hand, “that is because she is just being childish. Leila and Declan are downstairs, and I can bet it with you, they wouldn't leave here without suspicion lingering in their minds.” He exhaled, sitting his butt back down on the edge of the bed, “since when did the both of them
Author's POV“I didn't expect things would turn out this way. But I must say fate is really on our side.” Elizabeth sounded jubilant when she met with Leila and Declan later in the week. Declan smacked his lips in delight, “when Leila had found out about her father's recent death sentence, I thought it was a joke. It's obvious the Alpha's family is keeping it a secret for now. Sour for them, sweet for us.” He grinned. Elizabeth nodded along, she didn't fail to notice Leila's unusual quietness. Since the both of them had reached a compromise, Elizabeth had given up on trying to conquer the girl. No doubt, she is the same as her. And it was hard conquering one's lookalike, “What is the matter Leila? You don't look too excited. This is good news for us all. It makes our task easier.” She noted Leila inhaled, sitting up. “Yes, but I noticed something really weird.”“What would that be?” Declan asked“Didn't you notice Kira's behavior that day? I can bet my life on it that her sister d
Author's POVAmber stood by the door frame with an unfriendly look on her face. Leila turned around, confused at the unusual tone.“What do you mean, Amber?” “Didn't you hear me? What are you doing in the kitchen and what are you trying to do?” She bellowed taking determined steps towards her. Leila moved away from the large kitchen island, putting both of her hands up. She has never really been much of Amber's fan, the girl always had one reason or the other to act bratty towards her. Which is not unusual for Amber, she does that to her sister too. However, her sudden attitude appears too suspicious. “Why are you being rude, Amber? I was just trying to make a relaxation tea for the Luna.” She muttered Holding up the said tea, Amber tried to sniff with her inner nose, realizing she must have stirred up Leila's suspicion that she knows something. She let out a cackle, making a funny face. “I caught you! Was just playing around, I thought it was Kira at first.”Leila wasn't convinc
Author's POVLeila yawned in loudly, groaning in frustration when her phone alarm came on yelling into her eardrum. It annoyed her more when it turned out to be the notification she had set as regards Kira's movement. The location she put on didn't exactly work as expected, all through the night she checked websites to get any information as to track someone. She eventually got her hand on an app which enables you to send an anonymous message to the person's phone number, the app will then send the message to their phone, wherever they are, along with a tracking link.To be sure it would be effective, she had ensured to put in a loud beep to keep her updated. When Leila checked the time, she cursed under her breath. It was just 5:45 in the morning, and she was already subjected to leaving the comfort of her bed. “Where In the world could she be heading to at this time of the day?” Leila moaned to herself. Pulling off the duvet, she got herself dressed hurriedly, ignoring her father
Xander's POVI was worried to death when I saw Carl on the bed, looking lifeless. Miguel had called in the hospital to send an ambulance. Turns out he is actually down with a fever, it's rare for a werewolf to have a fever and pass out that easily. There has to be some underlying ailment. The doctor didn't say anything until Carl was resuscitated.“What's wrong with him?” I asked the doctor, Kira and Miguel stood behind me. The doctor sighed, my heart paced at the thought of him saying something scary. “He is fatigued and hasn't been sleeping well. From the look of it, there was a lot on his mind, which was why the fever leeched onto him easily. He would only recover fully when his mind is at peace. Please excuse me.” I turned to Miguel, “A lot on his mind? How is that even possible?”Miguel looked just as perplexed as I was, “I wouldn't know either, Carl is always active. He gyms every morning, cooks, and works at the bar, so swiftly you would never envision him being worried.” Ki
Author's POVDeclan had chosen to ignore the sight of Xander and his secret lover, whom he seems not to want to be seen with in public. Even though their eyes met, he clearly looked away, disinterested in whatever his stepbrother was doing. Just as he was about to turn around, he saw Kira would have called out for her. But he was forced to stop in his tracks when she closed the gap between herself and Xander, caressing his face. The lady Xander had been hugging a few minutes back saw them, and she ran outside sobbing. Confused as to what to do and if he wasn't misunderstanding anything. He dialed Kira's number. Hiding himself behind one of the polls in the large space to avoid being seen, Declan saw Kira making a face at Xander staring at the phone like it's something poisonous. “Baby.” Declan let out, shutting his eyes tightly to calm his breath. “Hi, Declan.” Kira responded dryly. “Baby, I was thinking to come pick you up at the pack house and heading out.” He musedDeclan saw
