Chapter thirty four

With my heart racing so much, I recalled what he had done to Edgar. For crying out loud, the man didn’t even do anything to him, yet he had been such a jerk to him.

I sighed, and I turned to leave when he pulled me back, pinning me to the wall as he stared at me. "And where are you off to?" He asked me, and I ignored him, trying my best to get out of his reach.

"Let go of me!" I told him, tears streaming down my cheeks as I tried to get away from him.

"And why should I? You’re the one who refused to let go of me when I wanted to be free of you, so tell me, why should I let you go?" He asked me, and I rolled my eyes.

"Leave me; I owe you no explanations." I told him and was about to leave when he dragged me back, pinning me to the wall again, this time with his chest pressing against mine, and I swallowed.

"You do, Cora. I own you, and as such, you owe me every damn explanation." He told me, and I pushed him away as I turned to leave.
