Chapter thirty one

"You think so?" He asked me, and I nodded.

"Yes, it’s a very nice name; I like it a lot. I’d actually call you Eddie. Is that fine?" I asked him as I smiled.

He nodded. "You can call me monkey, and I’d be fine." He said that, and I burst out into laughter.

While I was laughing, I placed my hand on my face. Laughter? Was I actually laughing? I swallowed, and just then, tears started to stream down my cheeks.

What was wrong with me? Why was I crying? He had made such a funny joke, and I was supposed to still be laughing. Why did the laughter suddenly bring tears to my eyes?

"Oh my, did I say something bad? I’m so sorry; I didn’t mean to hurt you, I promise." He tried explaining himself, and I chuckled slightly.

"It’s not you, Eddie. Actually, smiling, laughing, having fun, and being kept company are not my things. And now, you just made me laugh. Remembering that these aren’t things I’m familiar with brought tears to my eyes. Sorry if it made you uncomfortable." I told him with a smile
