Stan POV I had focused most of my time, since Carter left, on Kinsley. She was ready to come back to the Pack house today. She was still very uncomfortable with me particularly if we were alone. I had no idea how to make her feel more comfortable. She had to work on getting her strength back for walking. Elizabeth POV “What does that mean?” I ask confused with what Carter is saying. Perhaps it is the grogginess around my sleep deprived brain that is causing me to be dense. Stan POV I slept on the couch not wanting to corner Kinsley. She was terrified when we came back to our room last night. I had first tried to get her to eat, but she claimed to not have an appetite. I believe she was worried about what was going to happen when we were alone in our room. She had been visibly shaking when we arrived. I sighed quickly advising her that she could have the bedroom. She scurried in and shut the door. I kind of chuckled as I did not even get a pillow or blanket before she shut me out. Fortunately, there was a throw on the couch, and I survived with that. Elizabeth POV The awful scream that came from Carly startled all of us. It was clear she was in a trance … a bad dream. Tamara tries to grasp her shoulders to wake her, but Carly goes feral trying to attack her. Thomas steps in to protect Tamara but that only causes Carly more distress. Carter stands and walks around to me still holding the folder. “It looks like whoever was paying is based in the Palace of the Kingdom you were stolen from,” he says trying to instill calm in his words. “Why?” I ask feeling confused with this information. “That is what we need to find out. Kinsley POV I had walked off my anxiety trying to figure out why Stan was supposed to be important to me. And why a mate had suddenly turned up for him. How could I be his mate when he had one already? It hurt me to think of him with someone else. She was beautiful. Far more beautiful than I could ever hope to be. Why would he want me when he could have her? Hints of my past were starting to come back to me. I could vaguely remember another Pack. Another life. I was not one hundred percent, but I could see glimmers of my past. I could not see Stan yet, but I hoped that would come soon. I hoped it was as he said and not as it appeared after I saw that woman with him. Pack members were saying hello to me. I nodded and said hello, but I did not recognize them. I did not give any indication I did not recognize them as I did not want to cause panic among the Pack. I knew we had to have an Alpha and a Luna, but I had not seen them yet either.
