CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE

The rest of the journey back home, was awkwardly quiet. Neither of us spoke to one another as we were both troubled. Alistair sat beside me with his eyes staring out the car window while a frown settled on his face.

His jaw ticked and his brow furrowed in anger while clenching his fist. I stared at him, my heart racing as I thought of what he had done some minutes ago. I was still shocked by the fact that he had gone against his grandfather, whom he seemed so afraid of but it also made me wonder what he had done.

Did he really kill someone or was it all just an allegation to put him in the bad light? His clenched fist caught my attention and I could swear that his knuckles were turning white.

I hesitantly placed my palms on his fist and with a look of disapproval from him, I immediately withdrew my hand. I swallowed nervously and stared away.
