CHAPTER TWENTY

Sitting around a large table at the dining area, Alistair’s grandfather would occasionally glance at us with a look of suspicion in his eyes. Maybe he wasn’t buying our false pretense.

Nervously, I placed my hand onto Alistair’s and it didn’t go unnoticed by the old man, who smiled at the scene before he looked at me.

“Tell me, dear child.” He said and that was when I felt Alistair’s hand beneath mine, move. He. Was moving it away from me and I could tell it had made him somewhat uncomfortable.. not that I was complaining though. “What is your name?”

“Chloe.” I replied and he nodded while I managed to take a glance at the lady beside him, who just gave me a straight face. She was hard to read.

Though, I could tell that she couldn’t control the anger within her, anytime her face turned towards Alistair’s and it had made me wonder why. What had happened between the two of them? Who was she and why does she hate him so much?
