chapter one hundred and three

Chase's POV:

I disliked Heaven so much; she is so rude. I couldn't fathom why she resisted the inevitable. As I paced through the dimly lit room, I couldn't help but express my frustration to my cousin, Daven.

"Can you believe that attitude?" I ranted, my irritation evident. "I offered her a chance to make things interesting, and she acts like I've insulted her royal highness."

Daven chuckled, seemingly entertained by my annoyance. "You've got yourself a feisty one, Chase. This could be more amusing than you anticipated."

I scowled, not amused in the slightest. "Feisty or not, she needs to learn her place. This isn't a negotiation; it's a game, and I make the rules."

Daven leaned against a nearby table, a mischievous grin on his face. "You've finally met someone who doesn't bow down to your charm. It's refreshing, isn't it?"

Refreshing wasn't the word I'd use. Annoying was more like it. "She thinks she can challenge me, but she's just a pawn in this grand scheme. I'll show her."
