CHAPTER 6: 1876: VAMPIRES IN LOVE

Bradville.

15th March 1876.

Aiden was enthused. He pictured how tonight would look like at the town's party. They moved into Bradville some years ago and he had adjusted to the new environment as a vampire. He had found someone that he had feelings for and he pledged to himself that he would ask her out during the town's party. He was in front of the dressing mirror, wearing his tie. He wore a black suit with black shoes. He smiled after he finished dressing up, he looked at his wristwatch, it was 7:30 pm, and he had to leave before he was overdue for the party. He picked up the exact ring that he gave to Lynette and looked at it, he grinned. The ring was created by a warlock to prevent vampires from compelling humans. Any human who wore it was safe from compulsion. He picked up his black walking stick and headed out of the mansion. His brothers had left earlier, but he wanted to be at his best because she promised him that she would come to the party no matter what her parents said. When a vampire falls in love, they can't deny it because everything they feel becomes exacerbated.

After a fifteen minutes drive, Aiden stepped on the stony path that led into the entrance of the mansion that she lived in, he braced himself taking quick short breaths before putting on a black cowboy cap over his head. He was looking astounding, he knocked on the door, and it opened freely. He wondered why Selena would leave the front door open. As he stepped into the living room, his eyes caught Selena's parents covered in a pool of blood with bite marks and scratches on their skin. He swallowed hard because their blood turned his thirst on, but he had to control himself. Her father was lying between the two couches while her mother was lying on the couch on the left. He heard an ear-piercing scream coming from the second floor and he rushed toward Selena's room with vampire speed meeting his younger brother, Darius, feeding on Selena. Aiden attempted to attack him, but he killed her in front of him.

“Brother. I'm sorry. I was so hungry, I had to kill them.” Darius smirked before jumping out of the house through the window. He heard crashing, but before he could reach the window, Darius was gone. Aiden roared before he heard what he thought was the blaring of the siren, he saw the telephone that was lying next to Selena's dead body. He knew that she called the police when her parents were killed, and he sped out of the house. There was nothing he could do, he was not surprised because Darius had scourged their lives countless times.

Present Day

Recalling these memories made him wail in pain. That was his first time falling in love since they became vampires and his younger brother ruined his life. He couldn't allow him to do it again even if it meant that this family would fall apart. On second thought, he didn't want his family to fall apart, he knew that Darius was attempting to do the same thing he did in 1876, and every other year they fought among themselves. They left Bradville the next day and he didn't hear from Selena again. He sighed as stood up before speeding out of the woods. It was a few hours to midnight and he had to go home before he would come across the Vampire Huntress. He wasn't in the mood to entertain anyone because he would kill her over and over again if she tried to mess with him.

Slamming the door, Aiden joined Beckham and Elijah who had been waiting for him in the living room.

“Where is Colby?” Elijah asked, putting the bottle of bourbon down.

“I thought he was with Darius.” Aiden replied.

“He was looking for you.” Elijah squinted.

“Why should he? I needed my time alone and I still do. I think you should find him.” Aiden concluded before scurrying to his room. Elijah sighed.

“We have to find him.” Beckham announced.

“Don't worry. I will find him myself,” Elijah said before heading toward the door. “I will be back soon.”

“Did you successfully translate the note?” Amaya asked, she grasped the half-opened door while peering toward Hadrian who was focused on translating the note.

“I think. This is a letter from a woman to her five sons.” Hadrian informed her.

“I knew you could do it.” She mumbled excitedly.

“If I may ask, who are these friends of yours?” Hadrian quizzed, urging her to come in. She locked the door after stepping in and waddling toward him.

“The O'Connor Brothers.” Amaya answered.

“Here we have Aiden, Beckham, Elijah, Darius, and Colby. This letter was written in the late nineteen hundreds.” Hadrian asserted adjusting his spectacle.

“Um, did you figure out the year?” Amaya uttered.

“1976.” He answered pointing at the letters in the note. She was agitated because Colby's name was on that paper. It meant that he must have started existing before 1976. It was 2050 and he still looked like a teenager.

“That was seventy-four years ago.” Amaya calculated.

“Hmm. It was the exact year, the first founding members of the hunter community were murdered. They were killed by Vampires. According to this note the writer says, ‘the time is nigh. The founding members will be killed along with the hunters that want to see that we cease to exist.’ This letter was written by their mother, Gwendolyn O'Connor.” He declared running his fingers on the note at the bottom left of the note where the name he mentioned appeared.

“If their mother is a vampire then they are vampires.” Amaya analyzed.

“I think we should call Marissa,” Hadrian said. “There is another name here, Zachary Taylor. It must be another Vampire. Amaya, you're dealing with five vampire brothers.” Hadrian scolded, raising his voice at the last sentence.

“I'm sorry.” Amaya whined.

“Go and get some rest. I have three lines of sentences left to finish the note and I would destroy it afterward.” Hadrian said.

“Why?” Amaya asked.

“Because they are vampires and they deserve to die.” Hadrian told her. She clenched her fist.

“I think you should give them a chance.” Amaya suggested and he scowled.

“This town has been infested with lurkers for decades. The only person I trust is you and Marissa!” Hadrian reprimanded. Colby might be a vampire, but he had a kind heart, he would have killed her because he had several opportunities, but he didn't instead he decided to become friends with her.

Amaya slammed the door after she exited the library. She couldn't process what he heard about the O'Connor brothers. What she did not understand was why they didn't kill her, she was walking upstairs when she heard a knock on the door, she hurried toward it, and after opening it, she met Elijah.

“How did you find my house?” She asked astoundingly.

“I have been moving from house to house searching for Colby. Could you invite me in?” Elijah pleaded.

“Sure. Come in. My brother is at the library and he's working on the note that Colby gave me.” Amaya said as she locked the door after Elijah walked in.

“This place looks astonishing.” Elijah complimented.

“Thank you. Could I ask a question?” Amaya said, facing him.

“Go ahead, but I need to leave since Colby isn't here and I have to take that note with me. Where is your brother?” Elijah said so quickly that she hardly heard the last sentence.

“I told you that he's in the library,” Amaya blared. “Are you a Vampire? Please don't lie to me because I like your brother and doing this would make things worse for us.”

Elijah stopped breathing, he stared at her for some seconds, and tears dropped from her eyes when she understood that her brother was telling the truth.

“Y..ye..yes. We are Vampires.” Elijah bawled. Beads of sweat covered her forehead, she moved her hands through her hair before Elijah sped to her, patting her back. He wasn't thinking of hurting the girl that was falling in love with his younger brother. He was different from Darius. He didn't want to ruin Colby's life just like Darius always ruined Aiden's life.

“I'm sorry, but I promise that nothing will separate you and my brother.” Elijah assured.

“Step away from my sister.” Hadrian said, appearing from the library, his hands were glowing gold.

“It is ok. He's a good guy.” Amaya attempted to stop him.

“But he's a vampire. Do you know how many people he must have killed?” Hadrian scolded.

“But he didn't kill me,” She mumbled. “Why are your hands glowing?” Amaya noticed.

“I said stay away from my sister.” Hadrian growled and his eyes flashed gold. First, Elijah thought that he was a werewolf, but he didn't hear any snarl or breaking of bones. They weren't the only supernatural in this town. The doorbell rang and Hadrian used his powers to open the door. Lo and behold, it was Marissa Hunter.

“Just the perfect timing.” Marissa smirked when she saw Elijah before she dropped Colby's dead body.

“You killed him.” Amaya cried scampering toward Colby's body, he pulled out the steak and caressed his face, tears dropped from her eyes and landed on Colby's face. His fingers moved.

“Stay away from him, Amaya. He's dead. He's a vampire, he would kill you if he gets the opportunity.” Marissa taunted. Elijah chuckled when Marissa mentioned that he was dead.

“I don't care!” Amaya glared at her.

“Relax, Amaya. Colby is coming back.” Elijah told her. After those words, Colby gasped as he sat up.

“I need to take him home. He needs blood.”

“I can't let you do that.” Marissa maintained.

“Hmm.” Elijah said with a side smile.

“You came for the note. I think you should have it and go away. Stay away from my sister.”

“Your sister has the right to make her choice. Don't do it for her.” Elijah smiled grimly.

“Here.” Amaya said, putting her wrist in front of his mouth.

“I can't feed on you.” He said without strength.

“Just do it, Colby, please. I don't want to lose you.” Amaya sighed, she sniffled and tears dropped from her eyes. Colby looked at her, his face was still gray, his fangs dropped and he slowly dug them into her arms sucking her blood until his skin turned back to normal. Marissa was disgusted at the sight of this, she wished she could stop Amaya, but Elijah was right. It was her decision. He pulled away and Amaya fell into his arms.

“I'm so sorry.” Colby caressed her hair.

“It's alright. You're my mystery guy, remember.” Amaya smiled before closing her eyes.

“She needs to rest.” Elijah told them, accelerating to Amaya. He lifted her from Colby's arms and put her on the couch. She exhaled.

“I wasn't invited in.” Colby said when his head began to pound. Elijah sped to him, they rushed out of the house.

“Please invite him in.” Elijah said as he sped back in.

“Come in.” Hadrian uttered. Saying those words burned him in the heart, but he had to do it because of his sister. He knew Amaya and she wasn't the type of girl that would give up instead she would die trying. Colby sped in, he sat beside Amaya. He promised himself that he would stay here until she woke up even if the Vampire Huntress would sit beside him. He didn't care, he was in love with her.

“Warlock. You'd better think of what you'd tell your little sister because I don't think she knows what you are,” Elijah raised an eyebrow before turning to Marissa. “Huntress, I believe you know the Vampire King. My brother just made a terrible mistake that would put my family in danger and I think a Vampire Clan would come after us. Either you work with us. We kill this King or you stay away from us.” He manipulated her.

“How do you know him?” Marissa uttered.

“My note and I will fill you in on everything you need to know. We might be needing a little magic.” Elijah smirked as he looked at Hadrian.

“I will give you the note.” Hadrian said as he exited.

“Darius compelled a normal vampire to kill the Vampire King. If the King finds out about us.” Colby announced.

“He would love to be supreme. He would send his minions after you.” Marissa figured.

“We came back to this town so we could start over, but everything changed when my brother saved a human girl and Colby found out about you. I came back to this town so I could find my mother because she has the answers I need.” Elijah proclaimed.

“A stake through the heart couldn't kill you. You're special vampires.” Hadrian noted as he waddled into the living room.

“My mother might be the only one who knows what could destroy us. She might be the only one who knows how we became Vampires because we have no idea.” Elijah affirmed, directing his gaze to Hadrian who was behind him.

“Why would you want to find her?” Marissa quizzed.

“I think I know how to find your mother.” Hadrian said confidently.
