Things weren't cool at all with my mom, my sister, or I after the burial ceremony because I knew they were all still in shock. My mother would cry nonstop and at that point, she had already started losing weight from not eating and crying her eyes out all the time.

when my mom was fast asleep, I searched through my dad's belongings and some of his old pictures from when he was still very young and before he married my mom in their room.

They were so youthful and adorable together that this made me genuinely smile, and I felt a little happiness there.

There, I learned that he had further photos from his youth, including those from his first trip to Paris and England for vacation in 1980 and his Halloween photo, where he was actually wearing a native masquerade costume.

All of this really made me smile and cry at the same time. At that precise moment, I stumbled upon a note he had written to me, which I read.
