Chapter 2

It had been a week since Aileen had stopped going to work. Her coworkers, Berry and Lyon were able to locate her house and they went to visit her.

“Aileen! Aileen, are you in there?” Berry knocked on Aileen’s door frantically but no one answered. The entire house was silent. It was as if nobody was in the house.

“Excuse me ma’am, do you know if this tenant is around? I’ve been knocking on her door for too long. It’s been some time since we last saw her come to work so we thought of coming here…” Berry trailed off when they heard thuds coming from inside the house. Berry bowed to thank the woman even though she didn’t reply them and she continued to knock on the door.

AILEEN’S POV

I could hear Berry’s voice outside the door; I could hear the concern that dripped beautifully from her voice. It was nice, having someone to care about you but I could not go outside to tell her that I was okay, that I was fine. My ears perked up when she knocked once more, with every movements she made, I followed. Everything that went on outside, I could hear it. The sound of their breaths, the shuffling of their feet and the rustling of their clothes, everything was so loud to my ears. It was so annoying.

Berry and Lyon stayed outside for a few minutes and the moment they left, I was finally able to breathe normally. I was scared that they would hear me if I moved so I decided to stay quiet, apart from the books on my table that mysteriously fell to the ground, I was very quiet. I stood up from the ground and walked towards the fridge, my long hair trailed behind me. It reached my ankles. This was one of the main reasons why I didn’t want to let them see me.

Once the fridge was opened, the bad smell of normal food filtered into my nose. Wait… Bad smell? It’s normal food, why should it have a rotten smell when it had not gone bad? But it did, the only thing, however, that smelled so good was the raw meat in my fridge that I had been saving to cook.

For one week, I had been craving horrifying things; raw meat and even raw intestines. The enticing smell of raw flesh made me want to jump out of my room and pounce of anybody that passed through, I was barely able to control myself when Berry came. I sighed and closed my fridge, ignored my protesting stomach and stared blankly at the windows. I wouldn’t eat raw meat, I couldn’t.

However, I was weak. I had not eaten for a week now; I wasn’t even able to drink water. My legs felt like jelly and I saw double, I thought I would even collapse from hunger. The pain I felt comes and goes, but I was able to know the pattern and before then, I would curl into a ball and try to endure the heart wrenching pain. I…

“You should really eat something or else, you might die.” A very familiar voice said and I whirled around to face him, the sudden movement made me dizzy and my hair got in my eyes. It was him, the man who chased me around the forest that night. The night when this all started. I staggered and the man jumped from my window sill and landed softly on the ground, he tried to help me up.

But I wasn’t going to accept it, never. He was here to hurt me.

I hissed and growled… Where were these sounds coming from? They sounded feral, but I didn’t care. The man shrunk back in fear and I continued to growl, if those feral and animalistic sounds could make him leave, I would continue. Maybe he felt my hostility towards him, he moved back. I don’t know, but I think I saw pity in his eyes. Why did he pity me?

“Who… Who are you? Don’t come any closer!” I stammered. The man stared at me or rather; he stared at my rumbling stomach. He did say something about me needing to eat or else I would die, what was he talking about?

“Miss, you might find raw meat repulsing now but if you don’t eat what your body requires, your systems would shut down and you might die. Right now, your transformation isn’t complete and your senses are like those of a new born pup so just, eat.” He said and I didn’t understand, I had just one question and it was…

“Tell me who you are.”

The man sighed in frustration; I remembered that I had been doing a lot of that before I met that silver eyes man. That silver eyed man… I had forgotten all about him! Even though the silver eyed man smelled a lot better than this man, I could still tell that they were probably related so I reasoned that I could ask.

“Hey… That silver eyed man, the one who was in the forest with me, who is he? Why did I feel that amount of pain when he looked me in the eye? Did he do something to me?” The man eye’s widened, and then a smile tugged at his lips and he leaned on the window frame.

“Silver eyed man? I can tell you about him if you promise that you will eat whatever I cook, you look like you would faint if I start explaining it all to you.” The man eyed my shaky legs and I blushed and self-consciously tried to stand up straight.

“What… what are you planning on cooking?” I gulped and when the man smiled, a bad feeling arose in me. He chuckled softly and said to me, “You promised.” And then, a few minutes later, rare steak was in front of me, it was still oozing a bit of blood even though it was cooked for a few seconds. A glass of wine was also placed on the table and I gawked.

“What is this?” I asked in fear, scared of the answer he would give me and his reply made me gulp, “Your meal, bon appetite.”
