Chapter 19

Daniel's Pov

I could feel my inner wolf leaping for joy, pleased with Maya had treated Micah. She hadn’t cared that I had been there to witness all of it. And then, Micah. I fought the urge to laugh as I remembered the pain in his eyes, how desperately he had tried to save face in front of me. I shook my head and put him out of my mind.

I entered Maya’s kitchen. She was in there, staring out the kitchen window, looking forlorn. I hated that look on her face. I needed to do something to wipe it off.

“Maya?” I touched her shoulder and she jumped, startled. I held my hands up in an apology.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you.”

“It’s fine,” she rasped, smiling at me. I stared at the table and was pleased to see that she already had my flowers sitting prettily in a huge vase. It gave me the courage to ask what I had been dying to ask from the moment I showed up here.

“Maya?” I swallowed deeply.

“Yes Daniel?” she was gazing at me curiously.

“Will you go on a date with me? Right now?”
