Chapter 6

Maya's POV

“Micah acting all nice towards me?” I asked, still confused about everything that played out.

“I guess he is up to something. I really do. But, what is he up to?” I asked myself.

I shook my head with so much Vigor, trying to forget about him. I was still going to avoid him like the plague that he was.

No matter how hard he tried, that boundary must not be crossed.

I became more confused when Micah had stopped bullying me. I was torn between two ends as I was beginning to believe that he was really sorry for everything he had done.

“Phew!” I let out a sigh.

The class soon ended and before I could leave, my seat was surrounded by Juillet and her gang of friends.

My eyes roamed from one end of the room to another and I saw that the class was already getting empty as people were trooping out.

Although, they didn't leave without getting a good look at me. I was forced to develop a kind of courage that I had no idea where it came from.

“As you can see, I am on my way home. You can't block my way just like that,” I said to them.

As if I was a clown who told funny jokes, they burst into loud laughters.

“And who gave you the audacity to talk to us? You have grown wings, haven't you?” Juilet asked and walked around me in circles.

“You are right! This fool here has developed wings. I mean, why won't she when she was caught with Micah recently,” one of Juliet's minions said and I tightened my lips at first.

“I have no idea what you are talking about,” I answered, defending myself.

I knew that the news of Micah hovering around me must have gotten to her ears. This was what I had been trying to avoid.

“Is she lying?” Juilet asked and I almost sighed. But, I remembered that these girls can beat me up any time or even do something worse than beating me.

I didn't want that.

“I already said that I had no idea what you are talking about. What else do you want to know? Do you want to force whatever you heard down my throat?” I asked them.

I could see that they were all shocked to hear me say that and the piercing looks on their faces made my legs freeze to the floor.

Juilet stood behind me and I could feel her hot breath on my neck. Her hot breath on touching my skin began to made me have goosebumps all over my body.

I was scared to death as I had no idea what she had in mind to do to me. Was she going to pass a knife through my back or something?

Juilet was a devil and she hated me. She would do anything to get me out of her way.

“Of course, you don't have any idea. You liar!” Juilet yelled at me from behind and the force from her words almost pushed me forward.

“I am not a-,”

“Not any more words from you, bitch!” she ordered, cutting me short.

I obeyed and listened to what she had to say.

“How many times do I have to warn you to steer clear from my boyfriend? How many times do I have to repeat it?” she asked.

“I was not in any way close to your boyfriend. He came to meet me himself. I think you should ask him why he approached me in the first place,” I answered and I watched her minions twitch their mouths.

“He approached you? Liar. Even if he did, I knew you were full of smiles because you are in love with him.”

“I do not know why you are having this lengthy conversation with this fool, Juliet. Let's beat her up. She needs to know her place and learn her lesson,” one of them suggested and she rubbed her palms together.

They tried to move towards me but I took some steps sideways because Juilet was behind me and they were in front of me.

“I wasn't! I swear I was not in any way smiling when he approached him. I know he's yours and…,”

Before I could complete my statement, Juilet swiftly moved to my front and raised her hand to give me a quick slap.

I shut my eyes as I expected her hand to land on my face but after some seconds, nothing.

I opened my eyes slowly and saw that Micah was the one who held Juilet’s hand.

I was confused and still scared. Although, a little thankful that he saved me from Juilet and her gang.

But, what was he doing here? How did he know that something was happening? He had never done this before. Had he really changed for good?

I stared at him like he had grown two heads, but

looked away from him quickly before I would be accused of trying to steal her man with my eyes.

“Let her be, Juilet. This should be the last time I see you bully her and I am dead serious,” he warned and Juilet pushed him away from her.

“I can see that you are now a protector. Everything I heard was true. And you really think I will leave her just like that? You are joking. This is just the beginning.”

“Try me. I will be protecting her from bullies like you from now on,” he informed her, but that just made things worse for me.

“No, please. Don't. Don't. I am fine. Trust me, I don't need your help,” I quickly said and Juilet laughed.

“You can hear that right? She doesn't need your help. Leave her to us.”

“She is not in the right place to make that decision. I will do what I must.”

“Joker!” Juilet said, almost spitting at him. “Let's go girls,” she said to her gang and they all left, leaving me with Micah.

“Maya…,” he called, trying to hold a conversation with me but, I didn't want that.

I had enough of this traumatizing drama already.

“Enough! Please, stay away from me. Stay far away from me!”

With that, I dashed out of his sight. When I got outside, I saw Daniel coming towards me.

“Is everything okay?” he asked, after noticing how hard I was breathing.

“I wish. It's Micah again,” I informed me and he pulled me to himself, hugging me.

“Leave that Bastard. Stay away from him. He is no good. There is nothing that he would do now that will change who he really is,” he informed me.

“I am trying but he keeps appearing everywhere. I don't need him and I have told him countless times. He is just so stubborn!” I ranted.

“Don't worry too much about him. He definitely has something up his sleeves and he wants you to fall for it. I know you are not that stupid.”

“Of course, I am not.”

Daniel was already doing a good job of making me dislike Micah more. But, in as much as I disliked Micah so much, I loved him too. There was something about him that attracted me, but I couldn't place my finger on what that was.

“Thank you for everything, Daniel. I will make sure I don't cross paths with him,” I assured him. I was going to put in a lot of effort into this.

“You know what will happen if you do, his stupid and good for nothing raging girlfriend will come at you again,” he pointed out and I nodded.

That was not something I was not aware of. She always did. Sometimes, I wondered if she saw me in her dreams or if she was just cursed.

***

It was a blissful morning with no sign of Micah in sight. I had never been this happy.

I jumped happily on my way to class the moment the bell rang. As I jumped down the stairs, I didn't know when I missed my steps and landed on the floor.

I looked up and saw that everyone had just cleared from the hallway. I tried to get up from the floor but I ended up falling again, my ankles had been twisted.

I was in severe pain as my bones were weak to even support my body. I screamed out in pain and I saw someone approach me.

Looking up, I saw Micah stretch his hand towards me.

“What do you want?” I asked with a sneer. I thought I had lost him. Seeing him made everything worse for me and I stayed on the floor, staring at him in disgust.

“Nothing. Allow me to help you.”

“Never!” I blurted out. “I would rather limp all the way to the infirmary than allow you to help me,” I added.

I tried standing again, but this time supporting myself by hanging on to the lockers.

He tried to touch me but I limped hurriedly and pushed him away.

“Out! Out of my way. Don't ever touch me. Like I said, I don't need your fucking help!” I yelled and his face was filled with so much frustration.
