"Are you attracted to him, Gwen?" Matt questioned as he spun around, a severe expression that could be viewed in his dark orb, which baffled me.
"Wait, is that even necessary?"
"I just wanna know. So, please be honest with your feelings."
One of my brows furrowed upon hearing his utterances. How dare he ask me like that? "He's handsome, yet annoying. But if I'm being honest, I hate this place. I don't want to be with him, Matt. Why are you asking me such a ridiculous question when you were the one who urged me to deal with him."
Rolling my eyes in exasperation, I shook my head and then diverted it again to his face, which seemed lost in his senses.
"You're acting weird. What's wrong?" I asked with curiosity as I bestowed him a concerned look.
I anticipated him to convey his reason, but it was contrary to what happened next. He denied it. "Nothing. Just worried."
He swiveled around only to find himself looking at nothing in particular.
"No worries. You'll see me often enough here," he stated, then he turned around again and wandered his gaze to me. "Just keep me informed if you can't stay with him; I'll find a way for you," he added protectively. Matt has always been protective over me, even though we were only friends. He used to tease me and knew how to annoy me, yet he never failed to show his respect, concern, and pure sincerity. That is why I'm grateful for our friendship.
I smiled and quipped, "I'll be fine, don't cry."
An unbelievable expression arose on his face as if he was disgusted by what I said.
"Why would I?" he chortled, which made me smile.
Afterward, we went back inside and spent more minutes before conveying our farewells and leaving.
AGITATION coalesced with trepidation as I woke up because I hated this evening. Still, I had no choice but to obey my parents' and the Alpha's command because that's an order I must abide by, or we would both suffer. And I will not let that happen because I don't want to die.
"Hey, did you pack all your things?" my sister interrupted me from mulling.
I nodded.
When she noticed my aura, she halted and sat beside me on my bed.
"What if he finds out I was a silver wolf?" a sudden question escaped my mouth.
A deep sigh fled her lips as she gazed at me with worry. "That's alarming, and I know you disagree with this setup. But I'm sure he had zero ideas about the silver wolf's sign unless you divulge your identity. You just have to be vigilant."
"Well, you're right." I smiled. Her words are somehow convincing. "But, is it possible to get close to him? To someone I don't wish to be part of my life?"
"Come one, my sister, don't overthink about that. You'll figure it out sooner. Just focus on taking care of yourself; that's paramount, okay?"
I nodded. "I will."
We spent more hours packing my things. Then my sister fixed my hair and wore me a red dress, which I refused at first, but she eventually persuaded me. She kept apprising me that taking care of myself must be included in my priority because that makes me look presentable in front of Alpha Ace and his family despite being all werewolves living in human form.
After a while, we agreed to proceed to Alpha's house until they left me with Alpha's parents and formally accepted me as their real daughter.
"Welcome to our home, Gwen!" Mrs. Athena welcomed in her sweet voice with excitement. "I'll show you your room. Come, follow me."
We strode together upstairs until we stopped in our tracks in front of the door made of oakwood. Mrs. Athena opened the door and gestured for us to come inside. The room was spacious and decorated with luxurious furniture and beautiful paintings.
"This is your room. You like it?" she asked.
I smiled. "Yes, Mrs. Athena."
"No, no, that's too formal. Just call me mom or mom Athena." she laughed.
"Sure, mom Athena."
My wolf side kept shrieking inside me due to the excitement of being here with the Alpha.
"Don't hesitate to tell Ace whatever you want, okay?" she hurriedly ran downstairs after bidding goodbye.
I slowly walked toward the bed and put down my bags before throwing myself into it and groaning loudly.
'Why does it have to be so hard? Do I need to be here?' I muttered with my mind filled with unanswerable grudges.
'I'm excited, you know! Finally, my mate!' Violet shrieked in merry inside me.
'Chill out, Violet, if you don't want me to run back home,' I warned her.
Suddenly I smelled something— a citrus scent permeated the air. I know it's Alpha Ace. Since yesterday, I don't understand why his scent has become stronger and clearer than others' scents. It was enticing, and I couldn't help but inhale deeply.
"Stop resisting," a voice called out. "Or else, you may end up regretting it later."
His voice sounded seductive, and it sent shivers down my spine.
I sat immediately and scanned the entire room until my gaze wandered to the corner, and I saw this handsome man, Alpha Ace.
He walked nearer to me, but his movements seemed slower. As soon as he reached me, I quickly stood up and crossed my arms.
"How can you be this so conceited, Alpha Ace? Do you think I like your scent?"
He chuckled upon hearing my words. "I didn't say that."
I narrowed my eyes. "Then?"
Ace smirked. "Your heartbeat increased; I heard the rapid beating of it."
My brows crumpled as the annoyance inside me grew more prominent. With that, I grabbed the pillow from behind me, held it above my shoulders, and launched it toward his face. However, it didn't hit its target and instead fell onto its bare feet, which aggravated me.
"Damn! You're so annoying, Alpha Ace!"
"You're saying that every time we meet."
"Because you are honestly annoying! Tsk!" I closed my fist tightly as I endeavored to restrain my sentiments and stop being too harsh. If only I could get out of here without bringing my life in misery, I won't hesitate to attempt. Unfortunately, I can't.
"What can I do to lessen your outburst? Tell me." his tone was firmly serious, but there was sincerity, which made me soften a little.
I averted my sight to the other side and sat on the bed, remaining hushed.
The following thing he said rendered me to look up at him, and those dark orbs gazing at me made me guilty.
"You can slap me on my face. Punch me. Hurt me. If that's the only way to make you stay."I glanced at him, and his lovely orbs were staring straight at me. My heart thumped aggressively when I saw his intense stare at me, so I decided to avert my gaze again.'Why so rude to my mate?' Violet retorted as if she was dissented and was annoyed by my behavior, but I ignored her."Please, give me time to absorb everything, Alpha Ace. Sorry for being tactless, but don't think I hate you as you are."Something hot in his smile rose after I declared those words. "That's a positive view, I guess.""Oops, I'm sorry, Alpha Ace. I still don't want to have mate, marked my words."I thought he would get offended by those words, but what ensued is contrary to my assumptions. He tossed me a playful smile and said, "Everybody changed their mark after a certain point. Sometimes, people you hate at first will be the ones you love the most.""It's not always the case," I clarified, even though his words s
"I'm not mad. It's just… I'm not used to it. I told you we're contrary despite being your mate. If there's one thing I've been craving for," I trailed off, not knowing how to express myself. "That's the peace." There was a mark of perplexity as I stated those words, and I could sense his overflowing worry by the way he scrutinized every inch of my face as if he was searching for a clue. Unhesitantly, I struggled from under his embrace but stopped halfway when his fingers curled around my wrist, preventing me from leaving; he held me in place, unwilling to let go. Then he pulled me gradually toward the table, which surprised me. "Is there anything wrong?" he asked gently; the warmth in his tone made my heart stutter. "Did I offend you?" "No. That's not what I mean." "Then what? What makes you so distant? There must be a reason, and as your mate, I want you to be honest with me." I was hesitant as he took hold of my hands again, holding them tight. I looked at our joined hands for
"Well, because I thought I might be your mate."At first, I expected him to scoff at me. I should have known better; he was not one to mock someone like me with that kind of matter. But instead, he smiled, albeit a small one, and laughed suddenly. "Just kidding!"The apprehension that kept bubbling inside vanished as it quickly changed into a sigh, and I laughed slightly to conceal my emotion."The truth is I have never wished to have such. The only person who has made me happy was you." there was no indication of lies the moment he conveyed those words, just sincerity."And that's also the thing I told Alpha earlier. That you and my family are paramount of all."He nodded, clearly satisfied by my utterances. I continued walking, but then I was forced to stop when he called my name again, causing me to turn around and face him. "Yes?""Just in case you don't feel good about staying with the Alpha's house, feel free to tell me. I'll find a way to help you."His eagerness could be seen
"If you are willing to be close to her, you should start by supporting whatever she does. If she goes anywhere, it would be aloof of you not to be there."I was impressed by Matt. The way he emitted those words with bravery in front of the Alpha, I could sense how resolute he was to protect me. Matt guided me consistently since day one. For him, he'd rather stay by my side in the middle of peril than question my stubbornness by leaving me unattended."Thanks for letting me know." Alpha Ace deviated his gaze at me, acknowledging my best friend's utterances.*****SITTING in front of the Alpha was one of the most unnerving occurrences that happened to me, not because I was afraid of him but because of the possible upshot that might transpire during the conversation. I was currently depleting my time listening to his explications as I tried not to be rude."Please, let me know next time, okay? I want you safe, Gwen.""You don't have to reiterate that to me, Alpha. Matt wants me safe too
How does it feel to be a normal werewolf without versatile blood and healing ability? How does it feel to have the liberty to live wherever I want without worrying about my future?WAKING up to the sound of noise is what I despise the most. I grew up in solitude, and if I will define my life, the right word is tranquility.I stood up, yawning as it was still early in the morning. I left the room and stopped in the middle of the staircase to check the source. From there, I could see Alpha Ace with his parents conversing with their faces so earnestly that a sudden disturbance caught their attention.Matt?"Alpha, our subordinates were attacked by the black wolves. They need us!" Matt said an urgency as he halted at the door."What happened?!""Omega was waiting for us to be there. And according to him, they managed to stop them. Some were injured, but no one died. However, they all need immediate medical attention.""We'll help you," Mr. Rivo said."But what about Gwen?" Mrs. Athena ask
“Silver werewolves are not real, Alpha. They only exist in folklore and legends,” I said as I strived to kick him in the ribs, but he was too fast for me, and he avoided the attack. I stamped my foot on the ground and cursed a bit under my breath in frustration.“How can you tell?” Alpha Ace questioned me with a smirk on his face. We had been doing the training since we woke up this morning.“I just know it,” I stated without enunciating further explanation.“But what makes you say that?” his question made me pause from moving. I don’t know why he kept asking these questions when I explicated everything to him for at least three minutes. It was starting to annoy me quite a lot. “What made me know that silver werewolves aren’t real?” I reiterated with a severe glare and stepped toward him. “It’s because that was just some sort of fantasy, the absence which has caused a huge misconception about their existence. If they were real, robust creatures would try to find them instead of makin
"Sister Filomena?" I called out as I opened the window. She looked up and smiled at me, but then the smile on my lips faded when I noticed how bizarre she looked."Are you okay?" I questioned while sitting down on the windowsill. I couldn't see her looking like this often, primarily since I'd known her for years. Her hair was unbound, which was unusual for me."Sister? Are you okay?" I reiterated, but she didn't respond; instead, she hurled a creepy smile that perplexed me."What happened? Come here," I said, motioning her to come over, but then she spun around."Wait! Sister!" I called out once more; then I scurried outside the room; soon as I reached downstairs, I bumped into someone's chest and realized it was Alpha Ace.He quickly grabbed me before I hit the ground from my fall. "Sorry," I mumbled."No, it's fine. What happened to you?" he asked, but his face dropped slightly in amusement after seeing my attire. His eyes went to the edge of the dress, then moved to my bare arms,
Alpha Ace's POV WORRIED before the five minutes went out, I kept on finding Gwen unceasingly. My emotion kept rising as I continued roaming the forest, but I heard noises from a distance. The closer I got to the source, the harder my heart was hammering inside my chest. The further I came, it felt like my feet were dragging behind me, and soon I reached a clearing where a group of people was gathered with their backs turned to me. They were all wearing black robes that covered them from head to toe until they revealed their faces. "Who are you?" I asked as I walked up towards them. No one answered. Their eyes stayed focused on me until one of them stepped forward. It was evident in her feature that she had a powerful aura, the way her eyes gleamed with such power gave me the feeling that I had done something wrong. "It doesn't matter who we are; if you want us gone so bad, you must heed my words." "I hope that didn't sound too rude because I'm not really in the mood for games," I
