Chapter 23

MOSES'S POV

She was about to walk out of the room looking like a scared puppy and with her head bowed when I held her hand and pulled her back.

I could feel her body shiver out of fear as I held onto her. I was not in the mood to tease her so I let go of her hand immediately when I noticed that she was scared of me. She might probably be thinking that I would punish her for leaving her room.

She managed to look up at my face, and then I looked into her eyes sometimes, then I whispered the words "thank you." Underneath my breath.

She looked into my eyes for some time, the look of fear in her eyes was for a moment replaced with that of surprise.

She looked surprised that I would even say such a word to her. She wasn't expecting much.

I was surprised that I could say such a word to anyone, let alone a powerless, scared woman like her.

But of course, my grandmother meant everything to me and I would thank anybody who helped me from losing her.
