Thud, thud, thud

Katie started to bang on the elevator door.

"Stopppp, stopp that," I said as I grabbed her hands.

"You have to calm down, Katie." "What's the worst that could happen?"

"This is bad, this is really bad.." she said as she grabbed her inhaler from her backpack.

She has asthma?

Now I understand her panic.

Oh no!

Now that I might be responsible for someone's life, I didn't care about getting caught.

I started banging on the door.

I continued banging till my palms reddened.

Katie, I promise, I'll get you out in time.

"How long have we been here?" she asked, taking another puff from her inhaler.

'30 minutes'

"How long can a human stay without air again?"

"Now is not the time to ask science questions." "Katie, get up and help me scream."

"Helpppp, helpppp," we screamed in unison.

Still no one.

I was tired, my brain felt cloudy, and my vision became blurry. We both sat on the ground, hoping and praying for a savior.
