Chapter 7

I found Katie and Maya waiting for me.

For the first time, Maya was without Zaya.

"I heard what happened to you; are you okay?"

Katie asked as we all walked back to the dormitory.

"Sure, I'm good," I mumbled, completely exhausted.

"Don't you think we should take the elevator?" She teased, and I immediately remembered our escapade with the elevator.

I doubt I'll ever get in an elevator again.

"I'll kill you," I replied, laughing, and she laughed too. I stole a glance at Maya, and she looked so left out that I felt bad for her.

"Where's Zaya?" I asked none of them in particular, hoping to include her.

"A.P. physics after the school meeting," Katie replied.

"Smart," I whispered, and we walked straight into the building.
