Chapter 5

Eden pov

The first thing that came up on my screen was the mail, two mail, the rejection mail and a notice mail. My eyes narrowed as I clicked the mail open. It was hard to keep my mouth closed as my jaw slacked opened.

“What the hell is this?” my eyes skimmed through the rest of the mail, this couldn’t be happening. They were speeding up the process, why now? They gave me two months to get things ready and they were ready to close it down by the end the week.

“No, no, no, no-” I closes my laptop and paced around my room with my finger between my teeth. “What is happening? Why would they change their mind all of a sudden? Why? Wh-?” It all clicked, slowly but in an order I couldn’t miss.

I scrambled back to my desk and re-read the mail once more, something was amiss. I went online to do a quick search and I saw the problem right in front of me.

“…..the company has been purchased by city’s billionaire and owner of Andro Corp- that piece of sh-” of course he would do this, Percy was behind this. He was doing all of this to spite me.

Pulling away from my computer, I grabbed my jacket and tugged it over my satin camisole, both bothering to repair the messy bun on the top of my head. My face was in appropriate shape for me to step outside. The driver waiting at the base of the building only nodded when he saw me, noting that I was upset he glanced at me through the review mirror when I got inside the car.

“Andro Corp-” I stated slamming the door.

“Yes ma’am.”

“And Josh, step on it.” I added and he smiles pressing hard on the gas.

It didn’t take long for us to get there, and it didn’t take me to so much energy to push through the door to the receptionist who stared at me blankly like I had just lost my mind.

“How- “

“I’m here to see Percy.” I snapped not holding back, the dark brown brow of the woman tugged up at me.

“Uh- do you have an appointment-”

“I’m very sure that he’s expecting me.” I tried to sound calm but the anger was bubbling each second. The receptionist placed the phone down and glanced at me with a smile.

“Oh, Miss maverick, he is surely expecting you. He’s right in his office, you can take the elevator to the right it will take you straight up to his floor.” She said more sweetly than before. What had he told the receptionist about me?

Brushing that aside, what was on my mind was what to do to him instead. I entered the elevator and pressed the only button waiting patiently as it moved up. Several seconds later it opened in a blank hallway, no one seemed to be around and I frowned. Did he like his personal space so much that he had no one on the entire floor with him? My eyes narrowed down as I caught on the door, his door.

When I reached the door with my hands ready to push the door, it opened on its own revealing the devil I came to sew. With a broad teasing grin, he glanced down at me.

“Eden- what a pleasant surprise.” He said still standing by the door making no move to get away.

“You knew I was coming you prick!” I snapped pressing my finger hard on his chest. It was hard to ignore the muscle beneath his suit but my mind wouldn’t let me.

“I actually didn’t.”he denied making me take a step closer. He was way taller than me and it took all my guts to not tip on my toe.

“Don’t lie little Alexandro, you know what you did.” Percy’s brow tugged in amusement and then seriously. He grabbed my wrist and tugged me further into him, his thick scene washed over me and his other hand held me by the waist keeping me from moving away. My body was pressed firmly against his and my face was red from the contact.

“Oh Eden, there is nothing little about Alexandro, and I’m not saying this to brag but a large percentage of your gender agrees with that fact.” He whispered his eyes piercing into me.

“Don’t get ahead of yourself-” I tried to calm my raging heart. Why my body was betraying me right now was beyond means? Why was I feeling this way towards him? I wasn’t supposed to like the way his body felt against mine?

“You want to deny a fact that your body clearly agrees to-“ he leaned further down until his lips were few inches away from my ears. “You’re trying so hard Eden- maybe you should just relax and let yourself loose.” His hands slipped further down to my hips grabbing on the flesh clad in sweats. I could feel the imprint of his fingers burning further in my skin almost like my clothes didn’t exist.

A low gasp escaped my lips and I bit my lips to hold back on the things that threatened to escape my lips.

“Do you see that Eden, your body totally agrees.” His deep voice resonated in my ears and he pulled away. His hooded eyes stared at my face one more time before he let me go leaving me hot and bothered in front of his office.

“Eden-“ he called to me and my gaze followed him as he sat on the chair behind the desk. “Why are you here? Did you come here to stand in front of my office while drooling and looking red.” He said leaning back in his chair.

Three, two, one.

“You- you- you bought the company and speed up the evacuation process, why? So that you can make me run to you-“ my voice was sharp.

“Just like you have, you’re standing in my office making a fuss of a trade I did Eden. What’s your point?”

“Why? Why would you do something like this?” I could feel myself caving in.

“I’m just trying to help you-”

“Help?! This is you trying to help me?- you have a funny way of showing it-” I laughed in frustration.

“What’s it going to be Eden? Are you going to agree to your father's deal and get your mother's business going again or are you going to let it all go down the drain? What do you choose?” he asked sternly.

I didn’t realize my lips were moving until I saw Percy’s smile.

“Yes, I agree. I will save it instead.”

“Good, I’ll let your father know and we will arrange the necessary documents for you.”
