Chapter 2: Daughter

I continued my work there and took orders from customers. From time to time I looked at the table of the two men to see if Annie had served their orders. I just want to see what happens to that arrogant man when he eats spicy food.

I worked there confidently and I was also busy because the customers were increasing. I had lost my mind that I was getting something back that day, that's why I immediately looked at their table. Annie had just served her orders, so when we looked at each other, I smiled.

I stayed inside the kitchen but peeked outside to see if they had started eating. I grinned when I saw them biting into their pizza together.

"Kali, who are you looking at?" Jake asked me.

Jake was one of the crew and I stood properly when he asked me. I saw that he was holding a cleaning cloth and it looked like he was about to clean the empty table so I spoke immediately.

"Are you going to clean the table?" I asked him.

"Yeah. I was about to leave and go there to clean," he answered then shrugged his shoulders.

"Great! Let me do that for you," I said.

I immediately took Jake's cleaning supplies even though he didn't agree to what I wanted. I left there immediately so that the table near the two men I was retaliating against would be clean.

I pretended not to know what's happening when I came to the other table to remove the mess there. I just wiped the table there while observing if they were talking about something. It seems that what I assumed to be spicy in their foods has not gone away because a man has not been allergic yet. I stopped what I was doing when I heard coughing from the other table.

"Is all the food you ordered spicy?" I heard a question.

"What? No, but..."

"Oh, yeah! It tastes spicy. I instructed the girl not to add spices because you're allergic," a man answered.

The arrogant man I was talking to earlier coughed one after another. I don't know if I will feel guilty or happy because I finally got revenge on him.

"Miss."

My eyes widened when I heard the voice of silent boy. I didn't turn around because maybe I wasn't what he was calling. I just took a deep breath and continued what I was doing.

"Miss, excuse me?" he called again and this time, he touched me.

I bit my lip and closed my eyes tightly before facing their table. I caught sight of Damian, whose skin was almost red while drinking a mango shake.

"Yes, Sir? Do you need anything?" I asked then smiled.

He didn't speak and just looked at me that's why I remained standing there while pretending not to know what was happening with him.

"You put chili on my food?" Damian asked me.

I could see the annoyance on his face while looking at me, that's why I tried to act in front of them even more.

"What? Actually, there's natural spices in the ingredients. The food won't taste good if it's not added," I answered.

"But I told you that he's allergic to spicy foods," said the silent boy.

"Oh!" I said pretending to be surprised.

I pretended to cover my mouth before speaking again.

"You did? Maybe I didn't hear that," I said.

"You're just taking revenge on me. Well, congratulations. Your revenge was a success," Damian told me.

I couldn't stop laughing at what he said so I shook my head while they both of them just looked at me.

"I'm professional when it comes to work, Sir. So, why would I do that?" I said and then laughed sarcastically.

"You should be thankful because I was not affected too much, but if I was affected badly I will sue you," he told me.

I kept smiling because I could see the annoyance on his face. He deserves what I did because he almost hit me earlier. If the collision had continued with me, my daughter might not have a mother!

"Do you know those two, Kali?" Annie asked me.

"No, but they were the only ones who almost ran into me earlier," I answered.

I went back to the kitchen because I didn't want to talk to those two men anymore. They just ordered a new one and I told Annie not to add any spices.

"Really? They're both handsome! I just saw them here today so I'm sure they live in the other city," said Annie.

I didn't speak because I didn't care even though they're new customer here.

"I think I have a crush on one of them," Annie said then giggled some more.

I just rolled my eyes while doing other work in the kitchen.

"You shouldn't waste your time with men like that. Yes, they're rich and handsome but they'll just fool you in the end," I told her one after the other.

"You're so bitter, Kali! Why don't you try to have a boyfriend again? It's like you're not bitter in other people's relationships," she said suggestively.

"That's not gonna happen and I'm not bitter about other people's relationships. I'm just telling the truth. There are no decent guys, especially nowadays!" I reasoned.

Annie didn't argue with me anymore and just let me have my point of view. I'm not really bitter towards the couples I see. In fact I am happy for them but I just can't help but think that their partner will cheat at the end.

I was seventeen when I gave birth to Agatha. I was still pregnant with her when my ex-boyfriend, my daughter's father left me for another woman. He also didn't accept Agatha because he was afraid of responsibility, that's why when that happened in my life, I promised that I would never open my heart to someone else again. I don't want to come to the point of my life to be hurt too much because I fell in love with a man again.

That night I just had dinner with Aunt Cindy and my daughter Agatha. After our dinner, we decided to go home to the apartment where my daughter and I were staying.

The next day I took Agatha to the mall so we could bond. Even though I had already bought her some other things from other countries, I took her shopping for the two of us. That's why I'm scrambling to work to buy what she wants. I am happy for her because even though I almost spoil her, she knows how to be content at the age of four.

I can't deny that every now and then, especially when she sees family while we're walking in the mall, she asks why there's something missing between the two of us. She also always asks Eunice where her father is whenever I'm not around. I can provide everything for her except that she has a Father, because I will never introduce her father who has never been recognized her as his daughter.

It hurts me every time he asks where her father is, that's why I always remind her that I will only tell her when she grows up. That is the reason why she often drinks her milk because she thinks she will grow up fast if she drinks milk.

I think Agatha and I spent the day at the mall and had dinner there as well. We were both tired when we got home, so I gave her a bath right away so she could rest that night. I quickly put Agatha to sleep because she was also tired from our activities during the whole day. I was also about to sleep that night but Rein, my friend suddenly called me. She asked me if we could swap shifts for the next day. My next flight is next week, but since I couldn't say no to Rein, I agreed with her.

"I wish I could be the perfect daughter."

I woke up the next day because of Agatha's singing. She is watching Moana again and she has almost mastered the song there using her Ipad. I didn't realize that she woke up before me.

"That's too early, Agatha."

My daughter ignored me because she was busy singing even though her words were slurred. Before I finally left the bed, I kissed her many times on the face. I just cooked fried rice, ham, eggs, and hot dogs. I also made a vegatable salad for Agatha because she likes it. That's the thing we don't have in common because I don't like to eat vegetables.

"Mommy is leaving again tomorrow. Where do you want to go today?" I asked her while we were eating.

"Leaving too soon, Mommy?" she asked innocently.

"Yeah. Mommy has to make money for us," I answered.

If it's really possible to not leave her side, I will do it but I know it's impossible. Another thing is that I promised her that on her fifth birthday we will celebrate at Disneyland.

"Beach us with aunt Eunice, Mommy. Please?"s he said then pouted.

She's so cute every time she does that so who wouldn't grant her request, right?

That morning, I immediately called Eunice to see if she was free because she wanted Agatha and I to go to the beach together. It's a good thing that Eunice is free so I immediately arranged the things that we will take to the beach.

We weren't far from the beach, I think it was only an hour's travel to get there, but this Agatha fell asleep on the car.

"You really don't even intend to rest?" Eunice asked me.

"This is what I call rest. Being able to be with you two means I can rest. Especially with this little girl," I answered.

We serviced Eunice's car and she also drove. I know how to drive and I also got a driver's license because I sometimes deliver orders from online to restaurants.

"So, do you have a flight again tomorrow?" Eunice asked me.

"Yeah, that's why I'm leaving Agatha with you again," I answered.

"That's perfect! I'm going to Phil's house tomorrow. She can play there with Phil's nieces!" Eunice said excitedly.

I smiled because Phil was also helping Eunice to take care of Agatha. Phil is Eunice's fiance and he is so kind that's why I want him for my friend.

"I'm not yet ready when you have your own kids. Who will take care of Agatha while I'm on the flight?" I asked jokingly.

"Oh, no. Of course, I can still take care of Agatha. I treat that girl like my own child," said Eunice.

I don't know what I did well to be blessed with such a friend like her. I really don't know what would happen to me without Eunice by my side.

When we got to the resort, Agatha almost immediately wanted to go to the sea, so Eunice and I took her. My daughter is so happy that it is fun to watch hed. Her smile faded when she saw a father and daughter walking towards the sea. She just stared there and followed her gaze, which is why Eunice and I just looked at each other.

Is that her Dad, Mommy?" Agatha asked me.

"Y-Yes, baby." I answered.

Eunice and I looked at each other again and as if she saw that I needed help that's why she spoke.

"What do you want to eat, baby? Do you want something sweet?" asked Eunice, to stop Agatha from asking.

"Where's my Daddy? Why don't I have one?" she asked again.

Even though Agatha's speech was a bit slurred, we understood it. I couldn't help but be hurt because of her questions to me.

"Let's go and eat first. They say there are many different flavors of ice cream inside!" Eunice said.

She stood up and grabbed Agatha's hand to pull her back to the resort but she didn't pull her. I looked at my daughter and saw her frown while looking at me.

"Where's my Daddy?" she asked.

I looked up at Eunice and she just shook her head. I took a deep breath before I grabbed Agatha's two hands.

"Agatha, baby. Didn't I tell you that when you grow up I will tell you where your Daddy is?" I said calmly to her.

She frowned so I snorted when I felt myself crying too. I just hugged her tightly to get rid of the sadness on her face.

Soon, Agatha. You will also realize that you don't need a father because I will be enough for you.
