Chapter 6: Blue eyes

I couldn't quite imagine that Anthony was on the same plane with me for the entire flight. That's why I'm thankful that we made it to the Philippines and that I can relax with my daughter again.

"Thank you!" I said, smiling, to the passengers getting off.

I just stopped, and the smile on my lips disappeared when Anthony stopped in front of me. He still looked at me in amazement; that's why I tried to smile at him.

"Thank you for flying with us, sir!" I said, smiling at him.

"Thank you, Miss Kali," he said before completely leaving there.

When all the passengers got off, I almost suffocated while dragging my luggage.

"Did he ask for your number?"

As usual, my fellow cabin crew, especially Claire, asked me the same question.

"Of course not!" I refuse them.

They couldn't stop talking about Anthony, and they were really impressed with him. I just want to rolled my eyes there. If they only knew how manipulative and deceitful that man is, they might regret admiring him.

We split up when we got to the airport because all of us have own agenda for that day. I'm very sleepy, and I want to rest immediately. I wanted to yawn there, but I held it back because it was disgusting.

I looked at my wrist watch and checked the time there. I just took an Uber and waited for it to get there. I was almost sweating there because of the heat. I just used my palm to fan myself, and I was already frowning because it took so long.

I looked at a sports car that stopped in front of me because it's my dream to have one someday, but I know it's unlikely to happen because I still have a lot to prioritize, so I'm just looking at it now.

I didn't know if I could look away when the window suddenly opened until I saw who was riding there.

"Kali! What are you doing there? Do you want me to give you a ride?" Anthony asked me.

The people there were almost looking at us, which is why I quickly shook my head at him.

"Come on! The weather is hot. I'll take you to your house," he insisted.

"No, thank you. I'd rather feel the hot temperature here than ride in your car," I flatly answered him.

I was even more tormented because he didn't seem to have any intention to stop from making trouble. Fortunately, the Uber that I had booked had already arrived, so I immediately headed there and got on.

I delivered to Grandma's kitchen because Agatha and Eunice were there. I will eat there first and help with other work before Agatha and I go home to the apartment to rest.

"Kali!" Annie called me when I got there.

As usual, I still carry my suitcase. Annie greeted me, and I noticed that there were only a few customers eating there. I looked at Annie with a frown because she rarely greets me like this.

"Why?" I asked her curiously.

"There was a man looking for you this morning. You remember the two men who ate here a while ago?" she says.

I raised one eyebrow slightly and nodded because I will never forget those two men. I then remembered what I did to take revenge on them the day before.

"What about those guys?" I asked Annie.

"The one guy is looking for you. I think he has a crush on you!" Annie said excitedly to me.

I laughed and rolled my eyes before I continued walking. Annie followed me. Why are you looking for me? As far as I know, I have no arrears with them apart from adding spicy flavor to their food.

"Why is he looking for me? And which one?" I asked.

"The one guy with blue eyes?" Annie answered as if she wasn't sure about that.

Oh, I remembered that guy. It's a good thing it wasn't the arrogant guy who was looking for me.

"He was here from morning until noon, but he left," said Annie.

"Good to hear that," I replied.

I don't know what he needs from me because he's looking for me, but I don't care about that. I'm too busy to entertain anyone.

"But he left something for you. I hid it inside first."

"What?!" I asked in shock.

"Why did you accept it?" I asked while shaking my head.

It's not new to me that someone gives me a gift, but I've never received one. That's why I reacted like this when I found out that Annie accepted it for me.

"No one wants to accept that because we know that you don't accept gifts from anyone. That's why he was forced to leave it on the counter before leaving," Annie explained to me.

I just shook my head and held my breath because that's one more thing to think about. I went inside, and they handed me a big paper bag, but I didn't accept it.

"Just give it back to him when he gets back here," I said.

I will not accept that, and I will return it to him as soon as possible. I don't want them to make an effort to give me material things because I can't pay them back.

I went straight to Aunt Cindy's house and immediately caught up with my daughter playing there. When she saw me, she immediately greeted me and hugged me. I closed my eyes and felt her hug help me lose my tiredness.

"How's your flight? You look very tired, girl!" Eunice greeted me.

I laughed and nodded at her.

"Yeah, I'm really exhausted, Eunice. If only you knew so much happened during that whole trip," I answered her.

"Maybe you should rest now? Now I know where Agatha got her energy from," Eunice said, then sighed before looking at Agatha.

"Of course! Who else can she get all her personality from? It's only from me," I answered.

All the personality that Agatha has now and as she grows up, she got from me. I've never seen her with a personality like Anthony's, and I'm so grateful for that. I looked at Agatha when I remembered Anthony and I meet again.

"We met again, Eunice. We see each other again," I said.

"Who? Your ex?" he asked.

I nodded and shrugged my shoulders in response to him.

"Oh my gosh! What happened? Did he talk to you?" Eunice asked me one after another.

"Yeah, and he was so amazed when he saw me. He saw what he lost." I laughed as I told her.

"Did you tell him?" Eunice asked again, then looked at Agatha.

I knew what she was talking about, so I quickly shook my head.

"I already told you. I have no intention of informing him and showing him my daughter," I said.

"Are you sure about that? I'm sure that your two worlds will be smaller, especially now that you meet again," Eunice said, shrugging her shoulders.

"If I have to hide Agatha from him, I will. He doesn't deserve to meet my daughter because he didn't accept her in the first place," I explained.

"It's not that I'm meddling with your decision, but how long will you lie to your daughter? How long will you hide the truth from her? She's growing up, Kali. No matter what we do, she'll still search for her father," Eunice told me one after the other.

I nodded because I knew we would get to that point, but I didn't think too much about it. It's still a long time, and I can think more. A lot more will happen in our lives.

"I know. Don't worry, just leave that matter to me. I still need to be able to think," I answered.

After I rested and having chitchat with Eunice, we decided to eat first because I was hungry. It's already afternoon, and I don't want darkness to overtake us before we get home.

We also ate at the restaurant there, and it was getting a bit more crowded, and the customers there were increasing.

"Kali. The blue-eyed man is there. He's eating alone. He was asking me about you again," Annie told me.

"Blue eyes, man?" Eunice asked curiously.

I shook my head and immediately looked for the blue-eyed man, and I immediately saw him on a table. He was alone there, and I looked away because I saw him looking at me.

"Can you take care of Agatha for a while? I'm just going somewhere for a while. I'll be back." I said goodbye.

I didn't wait for Eunice to speak and immediately got up to go to the counter. I took the paper bag there and immediately approached the blue-eyed man. I forgot his name, and I can't remember it anymore.

He seemed surprised when I stopped at his table, so I slightly lifted the paper bag I was holding.

"Is this from you?" I asked him.

He adjusted his seat before nodding at me. I immediately put it on his table before I spoke again.

"Thanks for the effort, but I can't accept this," I said to him.

"Why? You don't like it?" he asked with a frown.

"Yes, I don't like when someone gives me a gift," I answered.

He nodded slightly, then took a deep breath.

"Look. I want to be straight-forward with you, Miss," he says.

Now I raised my eyebrows at him and waited for what he would say next.

"I like you. I just met you for the first time, and I liked you because of your strong personality. I like a girl like you," he told me directly.

I was stunned, and my jaw almost dropped because I didn't expect to hear that from him. I know he is rich because of the way he talks and wears clothes. Add to that his nice car, and who would have believed that a man like him would fall in love with me at first sight?

"If you give me a chance, can I date you?" he asked.

I couldn't stop laughing because of what he said. Date right away? My gosh! This is how men act today?

I stopped laughing, then turned to our table. I saw Eunice looking at us while feeding Agatha. I bit my lip and turned back to the man I was talking to.

"Do you see that little girl at the other table?" I asked him.

"Yeah?"

"She's my daughter, and I'm a single mother. Maybe you don't want to date me anymore, right?" I said to him.

He looked at our table with Eunice, then just shrugged his shoulders.

"Well, maybe that's pretty amazing? I can date your daughter too," he said.

I frowned at him even more because I didn't expect that. Usually the men who want to date me immediately turn off when they find out that I'm a single mom, but with this man, I didn't see any disappointment on his face.

"I'd love to get along with your daughter," he added.

"Really, huh?" I said and showed him as if I was convinced by what he said.

"Yeah, I can give her everything. Well, I don't know what happened to you and her father, but I can assure you that I can give everything that her father couldn't give if you let me court you," he continued saying to me.

I laughed sarcastically there. What does he think of me? I can't give everything to my daughter by myself?

"Your offer is pretty good, but no thanks. I don't rely on other people just to provide the things my daughter needs. I can provide everything for her by myself. So, my answer is no."

I smiled at him, then turned away from him.

"Mommy! Who's that pretty boy?" Agatha asked me.

Eunice and I looked at each other and shrugged our shoulders at the same time.

"Yeah, who's that guy anyway? He's not familiar with me," said Eunice.

"He looks rich, though," she added.

"Oh, don't mind him. He's just a new customer here," I answered, and not saying what we talked about.
