The chairman laughed easily, clasping his hands in front of him. “Did your security not inform you that I’ve bringing your surrogate from your house to mine to see your mother?”

I could feel the tension in Rodri’s shoulders.

“I appreciate the thought, dad. But moving houses everyday is too much stress for her. I will bring her to visit mom once in a while.” He said with a tone of finality.

The chairman only looked him square in the face and said, “Don’t lock her up in her bedroom simply because she is carrying your child. Other pregnant women go to different places everyday and the babies turn out fine. I’m just trying to make her happy. Just look at how happy she is.”

I saw Rodri’s jaw clench as his hazel eyes slide sideways to glance at me. I was placed in an awkward position between father and son, and I just wished they could have had this conversation without me present.
