As the meeting progressed, my mind drifted off from the important conversation going on in front of me and towards the woman in my life. The hospital had called to inform me about her admittance there and instead of being by her side, I was stuck in a meeting I really wasn't interested in.

There was no doubt that I was still upset with Vanessa over the events that had unfolded a few days ago and how she had kept important information from me. But it didn't stop me from worrying my head off over her and the baby. Michael Sterling had been ready to cause serious harm to her and our unborn child if I had not stepped in when I did.

Threatening a pregnant woman was not a light matter at all but instead of hauling Michael's ass to the police station—as badly as I wanted— I had walked him into my company and handed a high paying job to him. It wasn't the craziest thing I had ever done but it was solidly at the top of the list. Who rewards someone for doing somethi
