Chapter Twenty-One

Conri sat at the kitchen counter, waiting for Tala to get back, getting impatient… Jones sat next to him, making small talk, but he did not hear a word she was saying.

The back door opened, and Tala came walking in, Conri could feel the relieve washing over him when he saw her, and she was ok. He could see she looked tired, and he knew she pushed herself too hard, too soon.

“Are you ok?” Conri asked as she came over and sat next to him.

“Yes, thank you. Just feeling very tired again. The adrenaline of earlier is wearing off and I can feel my body is struggling. I am going to go and lay down for a little while.”

“I need to sign some papers; you want to come and rest on the couch in my office please?”

“Jones, will you please send some juice and a few snacks to the office?”

“Sure, I will see you in a little bit.”
